What's the commute like from Balmain to Chatswood?

In terms of public transport: Ferry to Milson's Point is 6 minutes; short walk to the station and a 17 minute train ride to Chatswood. Both ferries and trains very regular even on weekends and late into the night.
Alternately, buses go via the city; 23 minute bus and about half hour train trip. Driving takes at least as long, particularly as the city is obviously extremely busy at commuting time. Public transport's good, and lovely to commute by ferry; so that's your best bet.
