You can probably find a 2 BR for around $1,000 in West Lakeview, Lincoln Square, Uptown, Edgewater, Irving Park, Andersonville, and a few other areas.

You can find an apartment for $1,000 in most neighborhoods, with a lot of exceptions: entire near north side, Lincoln Park, West Loop, most of Lakeview, Roscoe Village, Ravenswood, most of Bucktown & Wicker Park, some of Logan Square, some of North Center. Anywhere expensive obviously, and most trendy neighborhoods are over $1,000 for a 2 bedroom.
