We have a pack of 7-8 that lives in Columbia-Tusculum/Linwood. I've seen them out during the day and night along Eastern Avenue, and I have neighbors who have lost pets.

Even if you have a gated or fenced yard, your small animals aren't safe from coyotes. Coyotes can jump fences, squeeze through openings you wouldn't think they could fit through and dig under fences as well. Coyotes seem to be a growing problem all over the tri-state, but especially in areas where trees are more dense. I know that in Montgomery and Loveland neighborhoods they have been seen and heard. They are definitely in Hyde Park, as I had a friend who had them in her backyard (fenced). I never let my cats out and don't leave my dogs out back unattended for fear a coyote will jump my six-foot fence!

Coyotes also freely roam North Avondale. They seem to leave people alone but love stray cats and dogs. :( Dont let your pets walk alone or make sure you put them in a safe gated yard and keep an eye out. I have seen them travel along in North Avondale but are scared away more quickly than if with a pack of others.
