"Great Location! Great Suburb!"
So close to everything and just a great place to live. A good mix of people, great for families, singles and professionals. Convenient and easy to get around town.
Perth CBD - approx 10 mins
Beaches - approx 15 mins
Airport - approx 15 mins
Plenty of choice for shopping centres and schools (public / private) all within 10 mins.
Its a huge suburb and house prices/rent can vary a lot, can be expensive in some spots and pretty reasonable in others.
Overall, really enjoy living in Dianella.

"Great suburb... Very big though"
Dianella is a very large suburb, so there are quite a few differing aspects throughout. Some small pockets may be average, however the majority of Dianella is fantastic!
I have young kids and as a Family suburb, it is great! We live in the very south west of Dianella, so we are close to great schools (private and public), lots of open space and huge parklands, very green with mature tree lined streets, great public pool and gym facility at Terry Tyzac, amazing golf courses at Mt Lawley and WA Golf club, very convenient public transport, 5 minute drive and you are in the heart of CBD or Northbridge, on doorstep to Beaufort Street nightlife and entertainment, night markets in summer, great footpaths for long walks / runs, neighbors are great and hardly ever a problem with noise, crime is basically non existent, Morley City Centre and the Galleria is conveniently down the road, easy access to freeways, Maylands train station or Alexander Drive for the longer connection hubs, skip through Maylands and you are on the rivers edge (fishing, biking, walking, water park, boating, swimming [maybe not in the river actually]), drive over the river and you are in Burswood / East Perth - soon to be new stadium. All within 5-10 minute drive.
Location is amazing - central, inner city but without the confines and hard-core urban feel. Still open and bright with easy access to every amenity you could possibly want.

"Dianella I Love It!"
Ok I live on the side next to morley/walter rd. I have been here three months and love it. So close to dianella plaza, galleria, mt lawley, city, just central to everything. Alot of retired, older people live here. So nice quality people. Great for families. I live on The Strand and its quite aswell.
If your going to rent here like any where else see who lives next door and over the road cos you never know.
Feel free to ask me any questions about morley and dianella i will try and help to the best of my ability.

may i know how's the rental in Dianella ? Is there any school nearby ?
Hi, thanks for your comment. Do you know what St Andrews grammar is like? We are relocating from nsw at the end of this year and looking at this school and hopefully moving to the area. Thanks
"Great place for families"
I am so surprised at all the bad reviews - perhaps we live in the part of Dianella where everyone is lovely? Moved here about 6 years ago, firstly to Surrey St, then to Leeds St - both places I could not fault. Shopping is on your doorstep, both streets were filled with friendly neighbours (esp Leeds st) with a real community feel. I definately feel safe here, and have 2 young children so this matter is paramount to me. I don't think its a cheap place to live if you are a young family starting out, however if you can afford it, I would definately recommend it. It's close to the city should you work there, many schools close by and a choice of shopping centres. I think there are a lot of older residents around these particular streets and families - I must say I have never seen (or heard) a raging party - not saying they don't happen, but it has a more mature feel here. I have had the displeasure of living in Armadale once, and if I use a 'safety scale' out of 10, I would say I felt 2 in Armadale and 10 here. I have no fear of walking my small dog at night. Resale value of houses appears to hold its own.

Hi Loobs, that is a great review. We are thinking of buying a property to live in Leeds Street. Any specifics about the street? Is it a safe place to live with a family?
"Why would you live any where else"
I have spent most of my childhood in Dianella, I have lived in other suburbs over the years and have always been drawn back to the place I call home.
The abundance of park lands and open space available makes this area fantastic.
Weather it be taking your dog for a walking, running around the local park, there are plenty of near by shops to choose from and the city is less than 10km away (depending on which part you live) making it a cheap cab ride away for that cheaky night out.
Public transport is abundant and the freeway is only a short drive away connecting you to all the major roads in Perth.
Beaches are only 15km away making it an enjoyable drive to our amazing Perth beaches.
I personally have not had any problems with crime in Dianella, our neighbours are friendly and always look out for each other and our homes.
All in all this is a great place to live with lots on offer.

"Safest place I have lived!"
Lived here for nearly five years and have never had any trouble. All of the neighbours in my street watch out for each other and are very friendly. I am a shop-a-holic and am never short for places to shop around here and the prices are reasonable - if you want to pay $500 dollars for a designer belt then move Dalkeith way and not here.
There is a sense of community as people walk their dogs, take evening and morning strolls and play with their kids in the parks. The housing is still really affordable and because its 10kms from the city it is a great suburb to invest in. There are a lot of people building new houses and units and in some areas whole streets are looking amazing.
I like that it's a safe distance from bushfires, floods and tsunamis. The crime rate is low and was voted the safest suburb to live in (2010 - the west australian). It is a very big suburb and I can't speak on behalf of the whole suburb but will say that my area (near Terry Tyzack gym) is a great place to live and relax!

"WE LOVE IT HERE..."
We live in Dianella and love it here! It is a great suburb for families, singles and retirees and I appreciate that we are very centrally located within the10km radius to the CBD and only a short drive away from great beaches.
I love the all the parks in Dianella and find it a safe and happy place with lots of friendly people. My neighbours are all great and having moved a couple of times within Dianella I have found no matter which street I live in, folks have been helpful and considerate. So for us it's a great place to live and we love it here!

"Fantastic"
I agree with John. Beware The Nella." Use to be a fantastic suburb, but since the Nella Scorpions gang have virtually taken over the suburb, its a horrible place to live. Real Estate agents try and drum it up because once you buy in, you cant sell out!!! We have a few Crack dens in nearby streets, but the Riot Squad division of the Anti-Gang Response Task Force comes in every few weeks and sorts them out.
We are lucky we live in a cul-de-sac. Our street got together and installed large steel gates at our street entrance, and we now have an armed security guard who mans the gates from 6pm until 6am every night. We also have a small laneway that leads to a park where the kids use to play, but its just full of syringes now, so we closed off the laneway with razor wire and barbed wire.
We drive our kids to school each day in a suburb further away, buts its worth the extra hour each morning to avoid the kids being exposed to the junkies selling smack on the street corner.
Yes unfortunately, Dianella has changed a lot over the years...!!! And since you have read this far, let me just say it is a great place to live.

To respond to "Mintox":
(1) Nothing in my review was made-up. Admittedly the suburb is quite a big one so obviously different residents will have different experiences, but I stand by my review. The crime rate has spiralled here in recent years. As a Dianella resident I wish it weren't so, but unfortunately it is.
(2) If you are so concerned with made up reviews, perhaps you should be singling out "JOEandKAREN" instead. Interesting that they rated Dianella 5 stars in every category, isn't it? However, simply googling for 'joe karen dianella' (without quotes) reveals that they are, in fact, real estate agents who sell houses in - that's right, you guessed it - Dianella. No conflict of interest there, of course.
(3) Ironically, your post actually helps to support my review! By calling me a "dic**ead" straight off the bat, it reveals just the type of person you are - and, dare I say, the typical Dianella resident. To others reading this, would you like to be neighbours with someone who screams "dic**ead" just because they have a different opinion to yours? This reveals another shortcoming of the suburb - the neighbours are about as friendly as Mintox.
Just for the record, I am a resident in Dianella and have been for the past 10 years, my whole family(28 people in total) live in Dianella and some have been here for nearly 30 years including mum and dad which live in Dianella. I work in North Perth and sell homes everywhere and not just in Dianella. My review was based purely on my personal day to day experiences of living and raising kids in the area I have choices of living elsewhere but have never considered moving, selling homes in the area allows me to get detailed and wide spread feed back about the area to people I sell too. To date all my clients have been happy and I have more people looking for homes in Dianella than properties available. I would consider mine an informed opinion, however it is my personal view, each person is entitled to their own, free to live where they choose.
"Terrible suburb, avoid if possible"
I have lived in Dianella for quite a few years now, and would encourage people to stay far, far away. While Dianella used to be a nice place to live many years ago, it has completely changed for the worse. The crime rate in this suburb is completely out of control.
I am now hearing people refer to Dianella as "The Nella" - use it in a sentence the same way you would use the term "The Hood". For example, "you'd be crazy to walk down the street alone in the Nella!". In fact, when I now hear of a Dianella crime story from a friend, family member or co-worker (which, unfortunately, is often), it often ends with the increasingly common expression "Only in the Nella", referring to the fact that so many incidents can only happen in this suburb. Burglaries, stolen cars, graffiti, assaults are all relatively common. Trying to get a decent night's sleep over the noise of Dianella residents doing burnouts and street racing all night is just about impossible.
I'm looking to move to another suburb in the next few months.
haha - the "nella".... dont know where you are living mate. Sure aint near my part of the "nella".
This is extremely odd, we live in Dianella for the last ten years in three different locations , never had an issue, it happens here and then that we leave doors unlock as well as garage and cars never had anything stolen. I walk by myself nearly every evening including the large reserve on Morley/Alexander Dr, always feels safe to me most people are very friendly. Dianella Plaza is the only downside in Dianella which is very outdated but rumours say it is going to change as well and who knows maybe the next premier will fulfil the promises for the city train of the current one.
which streets do you refer to? So vague for strong criticisms
mmm the Nella aye , forget it
"One of Perth's finest"
Dianella is among the finest suburbs of Perth. Close to the City, a mixed range of homes from just a few $100 000's to $2 000 000 dollar mansions. Lots of shopping available, great schools, parks, ideal neighborhoods, this is a pinnacle suburb to live in and caters for singles, couples, families, retirees, good overall performer. Well maintained and ideally situated.
