"Where Heritage Meets Tranquility"
Eaglemont is a suburb I feel privileged to call home. Living on The Eyrie, I’m greeted each day by the soft rustling of plane trees and views that make it feel like a peaceful retreat. Yet, it’s wonderfully connected—Eaglemont Village, with its cozy cafes and friendly shopkeepers, is just a short stroll away, and the train makes city trips effortless.
On evening walks, I often wander down Charlton Road, where the beautifully preserved homes and lush gardens create a sense of timeless charm. It’s a quiet, tucked-away street that feels like a perfect reflection of what makes Eaglemont special. The Righi, with its wide nature strips and graceful elm trees, offers a different energy—calm yet evolving, blending heritage with new life. Each street in Eaglemont has its own character, but together they create a suburb that’s not just a place to live, but a place to belong.

"Small, quiet, friendly and well-heeled family suburb"
Eaglemont is quite possibly the best suburb in Melbourne.
A friendly, quiet, safe and leafy suburb that's close to leading schools and easily accessible by car and train to the CBD - Eaglemont is an elite family suburb full of tree lined streets and large homes with city and park views.
Much of the suburb has strict single dwelling rules, meaning the large estates cannot be knocked down and developed into apartments.
The most expensive streets in the North-East of Melbourne can be found at the top of Mount Eagle - where properties have remained tightly held for generations.
Close shopping strips: Eaglemont Village, Ivanhoe East, Ivanhoe, Heidelberg.
Close shopping centres: Doncaster Westfield (12 minutes), Northland (10 minutes)
Close schools: Ivanhoe Grammar, Ivanhoe Girls Grammar, OLMC, Marcellin, Ivanhoe East Primary, Kew High + more
Time to city: Eastern Freeway (15-20 minutes), Train from Eaglemont Station to Flinders St (20 minutes)
Close Parks: Most streets in Eaglemont have private parks down laneways that are hidden from the public view (although accessible), however there is Albert Jones reserve and The Righi Park in Eaglemont, as well as Chelsworth Park and Ivanhoe Park close-by in Ivanhoe East.
Golf Courses: Ivanhoe Golf Course (2km away), Kew Golf Course (5km away), Eastern Golf Course (5km away), Yarra Bend (5km), LaTrobe (7km)

"One of Melbourne's best kept secret suburb!"
This affluent suburb is tucked away between Ivanhoe and Ivanhoe East. It consists of spacious homes and lovely families. Quiet and green, it's close to some lovely schools (East Ivanhoe Primary School, Ivanhoe Girls Grammar, Ivanhoe Primary School, Fairy Hills Kindergarten) and is easy access to amenities (supermarkets, shops, groceries), freeway, Eaglemont train station and large open spaces.
All this comes at a serious cost -> housing / rental prices are in the top most expensive bracket.
This is one of the few neighbourhoods I would seriously love to move into, if I could afford it.

"Retreat to the suburbs"
As I stood out the back of my girlfriend's porch it became quite obvious why Eaglemont appeals to so many. In the foreground were paddocks, parks and a river with surroundings only occupied by bushland. In the distance the skyscrapers of the inner city poked over the native treetops. In Eaglemont you can you live within Melbourne's inner suburbia yet retreat to country bliss.
Within the suburb itself the streets are lined with trees, the houses retain a sense of character and even the local family-run mechanic treats its clients like it would in a small town. The main street only has a handful of shops but it services the locals who are proud their street isn't a bustling metropolis.

"One of Melbournes best kept secrets"
Eaglemont remains one of Melbournes best, largely undiscovered pockets. Beautiful leafy streets, little to no flow through traffic and exceptional public transport options (access to the city in well under 25 minutes) and cost of living for what it is, is very reasonable.

"Cosy and Safe suburb"
Eaglemont is close to Melbourne CBD via the Eastern freeway. It offers lovely architecture and old-style houses. There are beautiful leafy streets (especially in Outlook Drive in Autumn, highly recommended). Very charming. Friendly and generally safe, but its an expensive suburb which leads to a target of burglary which is the only downside.

"Melbourne's Best Kept Secret?"
Eaglemont is a beautiful suburb, leafy/green, close to the CBD via the freeway. Some interesting architecture that appeals to those in the arts, lots of green spaces between the houses (some empty blocks were mandated when the suburb was born) that will appeal to garden-lovers. A major hospital (Austin) is 1 minute away.
Only downside is many homes on the best streets are on steep blocks and it is a bit far from the private-school belt in Hawthorn/Kew/Canterbury limiting schooling options IMO. Ivanhoe grammar or the public schools are some local options.

"Notorious lack of available property in this affluent area"
An affluent suburb ideally suited to professionals or families, Eaglemont is based just 10km outside of Melbourne and is home to almost 4,000 people. The average property in the area sells for almost $1.2 million and are some of the highest property prices in Melbourne. A notoriously difficult area to get into due to the lack of available properties, Eaglemont plays host to a small shopping centre which houses food outlets, specialty stores, newsagencies, a post office, a book shop, grocery stores and a bar. The area is also well serviced by buses and trains, which link directly to Melbourne’s CBD. Other features of Eaglemont include a few local parks, landscaped streets, neighbouring parklands and two kindergartens. There are no local primary schools in Eaglemont.
