"Top suburb"
We moved from Sydney 2 years ago and bought in Flagstaff Hill. The schools and Kindys are great! This was very important for us. Loads of walking trails and heaps of wildlife. The locals we have met are all friendly. We feel very lucky to have ended up here.

"A good spot for affordability"
Flagstaff Hill is a beautiful location if you have a young family and are starting out in the property market. There is plentiful access to the local areas and down south if employment or need exists. Flagstaff Hill also boasts amazing city and foothill views if you purchase within the appropriate areas and offers larger land than its inner-city suburbs. However, my experiences there had several incidents with the local snake wildlife that had become worrisome that we had to be forced to seek extra services. Public transport is below par with not as many options as other outer-city suburbs but with access to the main amenities such as retail or educative outlets, this may not be an issue to the budding resident.
Great points:
• The views of the city and surrounding suburbs are amazing if purchased in applicable areas.
• Family-friendly neighbourhood.
• Large land for value and proximity.
Good points:
• Close to retail and other shopping amenities.
• Close to Marion and Aberfoyle Park hub.
• Access to south precincts via close proximity to the southern expressway.
• Public school options are above average compared to other areas in Adelaide
• Good access to Flinders University.
• Good rental return if investing.
Bad points:
• CBD transport both via car and public transport can be time-consuming compared to most other suburbs in Adelaide.
Ugly points:
• If you're scared of snakes be very wary. The house we purchased had various issues with native brown snakes constantly entering the residence and living around the pool. Pest control services were constantly called and repellant laid on an annual basis that costs money.

Bellavista road. I loved it initially, but upon moving around Adelaide some more I found other suburbs to have more to offer for price and location. It's not a bad suburb by any stretch and this is only my opinion.
what were the other suburbs? :-) we are looking to buy in the area
"Community minded, quiet an accepting suburb"
Flagstaff Hill is a friendly suburb, quiet and unassuming. People who enjoy walks, friendly wave to the neighbours, people just getting along. No real shopping hub but shops in surrounding suburbs aplenty. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

"Relatively affordable but prices are (fortunately for us) creeping upward"
Just moved here a year ago. Professional, white collar neighbours, bordering on Sturt Gorge Recreational Park. Well built homes being updated, some stunning gardens, large properties. Close to Blackwood, the Hills, Westfield Marion and a short drive to the beach.

"Flaggy...."
I love living in Flaggy.... as with all places there are pros and cons... public transport could be a bit quicker, but it does go to marion where you can connect to anywhere. Not a lot of restraunts, if any, but The Duck Inn is a short 5 mins drive, and that is a highly recommended pub. I love the greenness, the trees, the koalas, the odd kangaroo! The atmosphere of the country within a short distance to general "suburbia". I cannot even contemplate the possibility of living "down the hill" on straight roads, with houses piled against each other, and only the odd tree and asphalt to look at. The hills, the valleys, the creeks and rivers...birdlife and wildlife... The pre-primary and primary schools are absolutely fantastc, but we are lacking a really good high school.
All in all, a winner in my opinion!
Great for
- Beautiful countryside

Not great for
- Train service could be quicker

"Beautiful Countryside Suburb - close to city and beaches"
Flagstaff Hill is a beautiful place to live, just on the outskirts of city and only 20 minutes to a huge choice of Adelaide beaches. A choice of very good primary schools within walking distance and high schools a short bus ride away.
Great for
- Beautiful countryside
- Great Neighbours
- Well kept houses and gardens
Not great for
- Train service could be quicker
"Supremly Quiet"
Great area, nice quiet and safe street. Good semi country feel, away from the hustle and bustle. Always relaxing to come home to from working in the city. Public transport could be better but not a fault of living in Flagstaff.

Perhaps you would care to elaborate on your comment in order to give it some credibility?
And where do you live?
What does a long way to anywhere mean? Flagstaff hill has good local facilities. It's a few minutes drive to a Major Westfield shopping centre. Ten minutes from some of Adelaide's best beaches. And a very short drive to the beautiful Adelaide Hills. It is also peaceful, secluded, quiet, with natural parks and birdlife...
If you hate Flagstaff hills so much, why you bother to work here? i'm sure you can find the similar job in you so call "near to everything" location and not wingeing about it?
The two primary schools in Flagstaff Hill are both absolutely fantastic... but...considering you can't spell "live", i have decided not to take any notice of your comment whatsoever.
Roberts47 is ridiculous! I don't agree with it. Flagstaff Hill is excellent and some more excellence to say!!!
I agree with North and most of the others above. I am glad you don't live there because clearly you have NO IDEA what Flagstaff Hill is really like. Stay where you are. It's a Fabulous place to live in everyway :-)
I agree with all the comments here. Since there is no elaboration for credibility as some previous comments say, and which I fully agree with, Flagstaff Hill is a wonderful place to live!
"flagstaff,, Outstanding value for money"
Flagstaff Hill in my opinion one of Adelaides most underrated suburbs. A glorious quasi rural environement with fine homesreserves and walking trails. Approx 25 mins to cbd and just minutes to Marion and TheBay. Housing affordability is excellent with outstanding value for money. Just a gtreat place to live.

"Flagstaff Hill - something for everyone"
Still just 25 minutes from the CBD, Flagstaff Hill makes for an accessible area, with a get away feel. Within this very expansive suburb, you will find sections that have been extensively developed, and yet others where you have a gorgeous outlook over the tree tops. With great facilities, including Golf Course, local schools, good public transport, and stunning parks, inlcuding Sturt Gorge.

"Voted most popular suburb in Adelaide by British visitors and new arrivals!"
Flagstaff Hill is an extensive suburb located a convenient 15 mins from the beach and 25 mins from the CBD and airport. Classified as 'up the hill' rather than part of suburbia, it has a somewhat 'rural' atmosphere with plenty of trees, parkland and recreational facilities. Developed along the Sturt Gorge, the heart of Flagstaff Hill started about 35 years ago with the older homes central and surrounding the Flagstaff Hill shopping centre and Golf Course. This area is very popular as it is well settled and is walking distance to schools, shops, golf course and all amenities such as doctor, dentist & physio. The Flagstaff Hill shopping centre, although a relatively small parade of shops, covers the needs of the area with a very competitive IGA open until 9pm week nights and all weekend, Post Office, Chemist, Bakery, Florist, Chicken Shop, Hairdresser, Cellarbrations, Ray White Real Estate and opening soon an IMVS. Surrounding the shopping centre are the medical and dental centres. The Flagstaff Hill Golf Course is across the road and property surrounding and backing the golf course, is very popular with prices and returns at a premium.
The Craigburn Estate was the next to develop a little further along the Gorge, with properties around 10-15 years of age. This area attracted the more prestigious property builders and remains somewhat a 'cut above' for location and position.
The most recent addition to this lovely suburb is the Flagstaff Pines development started only 5 years ago with a couple of homes and now there are 100s. Once again, the relative newness of this area has attracted designer homes and still has some 20-30 show homes of various Builders attracting visitors to the area on a daily basis.
Being on of the most popular suburbs in Adelaide, property in the area has remained on an upward spiral when many other suburbs have experienced a loss or decrease in value in the last 12-24 months.
Overall, Flagstaff Hill is a great place to live, bring up a family and enjoy a great community lifestyle.

"What is there not to like about Flagstaff Hill - Leafy and Lovely"
Flagstaff Hill is about 16km away from the CBD and is a lovely, sprawling, leafy suburb that has lots of walking trails. A large proportion of Flagstaff Hill backs onto Sturt Gorge which is wonderful for bushwalking and just for children exploring in general. A number of new homes being built in the Flagstaff Pines estate as well as older more established homes. Very friendly neighbours and my street, Glendale Avenue is one of the nicest around with lots of trees, wide streets, lovely homes and stunning views. Shopping is handy - large shopping centre at the Hub (Aberfoyle Park), smaller shops at Flagstaff Hill (grocery, bakery, post office and florist) and very large shopping centre at Westfield Marion about a 10 minute drive away. Good beaches are also about a 10 minute drive away. Buses run from Aberfoyle Park and through Flagstaff Hill and there is a train service from Coromandel Valley about a 10 minute drive away. All in all, the perfect suburb!
