Nestled on the western outskirts of Geelong, West Geelong is a gem that combines the charm of suburban living with the convenience of urban amenities. West Geelong is a vibrant suburb dedicated to providing residents with opportunities for recreation and leisure.
West Geelong offers residents a host of other amenities to enjoy. From quaint cafes and boutique shops to sprawling parks and recreational spaces, there's always something to see and do. And with Geelong's bustling CBD just a stone's throw away, the conveniences of urban living are never far off.
But perhaps what truly sets West Geelong apart is its strong sense of community. "Home to the vibrant heart of Pakington Street"
It’s no secret that Geelong West promises a truly enviable lifestyle. Home to the vibrant heart of Pakington Street, this bustling neighbourhood is renowned for its café culture.
No matter where you’re located, you’ll be making your way to ‘Pako’ whenever you get a chance to grab a coffee, browse the boutiques or treat yourself to the finest restaurants.
The famous Pako Festa Parade runs right through this main street; an annual event where everyone comes together to celebrate the region’s diverse cultures through delicious food and live performances. Once you’ve experienced this local tradition, it will quickly become a family highlight!
Geelong West is also well known for its charming Federation-era homes. This fusion of old-world character and cosmopolitan living makes it one of Geelong’s most sought-after neighbourhoods. Highly regarded primary schools and private colleges are within easy reach, with local parklands providing beautiful settings for family fun days.
The Geelong Train Station is close by for Melbourne commuters, while the Geelong CBD is right at your fingertips.

"An All-Rounder"
I’ve lived and worked around Geelong for 15 years and spent many of those years in Geelong West. It’s walking distance from everything you’ll ever need – café and shopping strip on Pako, supermarkets and takeout on Shannon Ave, Geelong station and even the CBD. It’s also easy access to the ring road for commuters.
Not only does it have all the convenient attraction, there are also reserves and parks sprinkled across the suburb for families to enjoy.
Growth in the area is very strong with median sales prices increased by 6.8% to $710,000 and median rental prices increase by 2.6% to $360per week. The average age in the area is 35, showing that it’s popular for middle-aged men and women with a majority having kids.
The split between rental properties and owner occupy is 40% to 60% - development in the area is still incredibly popular and gives people an opportunity to sell or rent depending on their budget.

"Like Inner Melbourne for 1/3 of the price."
We moved to Geelong West in 2014 to start our family and could not be happier. After living our early 20s in apartments in Essendon & Port Melbourne and being priced out of buying a house anywhere close to the city it became a choice of moving to suburbia like Point Cook or moving to a cosmopolitan city like Geelong West and still being able to enjoy the things we love like being able to walk to supermarket, cafes, pubs that are on offer in Pakington St. We bought a beautiful fully renovated Victorian house and I work in Laverton and the commute is tolerable.
Other positives are the schools in the area are excellent, low crime and have always felt safe. excellent neighbours, nice dog parks, short distance to the barwon river trail which i enjoy running around, easy links to the freeways and can be in Torquay within 15 minutes.
Capital growth is very strong, in 2014 we bought for just under $500k and property would now be worth close to $900k.

"Long Term Resident"
Geelong West is very conveniently located - right next door to the water @ Drumcondra, home to the ever popular Pakington Street with all its retail variety, eateries and entertainment and its ever popular annual Pako Festa in February. It is close by to the Deakin Waterfront Campus which now includes the Faculty of Medicine. Shannon Ave is another great feature bordering Geelong West boasting all sorts of fabulous retail stores and eateries. Its locale is also just a stone's throw away from the CBD. Council continue to 'green up' the area which continues to consolidate and look fabulous. Geelong West will not disappoint!
