Is Glenroy as bad as its reputation? north border

We are looking at purchasing a house on Bindi Street which is north east of the suburb. The house is beautiful and new and the street has a mix of other new townhouses but also some older and not very well kept places. We are planning to start a family and whilst we have found our dream house we are worried about the area. Any advice appreciated. Not sure if its as bad as it seems...
