"Great place to live"

So close to the city via car or public transport and not too far from the beach either
It’s affordable and seems pretty safe where I’m at in Joondanna

"Great location and schools for families"

The location, convenient to Mt Hawthorn cafe strip, Dog Swamp shops, Osborne Park retail businesses, Main St cafe strip, easy to get on the Freeway North and South, 7 mins to the city down London/Loftus St. The area is changing with a recent increase in premium/luxury two story homes being built. Great community and family friendly vibe. Being in the Bob Hawke College catchment area is another plus.

"Lived there...moved out due to crime"

Lived here for 2.5 years and moved out. Noisy. Wouldn't park car on verge ( break ins) or relax with windows open.
Location to City is about the only thing going for it . Not really a neighbourly suburb.

What kind of crimes? May I ask what street you happened to be on? Am thinking of buying my first home in this area.

I Had my car broken into on the verge as well & had to get my Suzuki towed away to get repaired $1000 damage. Police wouldn't come out because I had to find fingerprints first (pathetic). Door key lock damaged & car sitting in driveway rear panel window broken to friends car on the property over the years as well.
Lots of units are being built now. The old 1950's homes are not worth restoring with land being so expensive here now. I live in a 50's house in a fairly quite street off the main perimeter. More families are moving in with screaming children/units
are being built & ruining this once quiet, suburb.

Noisy? Where you live on Charles Street. It is quiet where. Live I can hear planes landing at night. Car breaks, get a security system to your house and park in your drive. I have 4 outdoor sensors, 8 inside and 5 HD cameras place to cover all of my roperty. Neve live in a house without a top range security system. I could never live without it.
Joondanna is the best located suburb and dont want families with their bloody kids and always a stupid happy dog. The suburbs is where you belong.
I live in a renovated 50s house and enjoy 7 garden security walls, polished bounds, open fireplace, meter2 wood stove, double solid brick walls with 9 .5 ceilings. Would never lve anywhere else.

"What a wonderful Suburb!"

Joondanna is one of the wonderful suburbs in Perth! Lived here from the Early to Mid 2000s. Lots of Park & Reserves, Primary Schools such as Mount Hawthorn, Tuart Hill & Osborne & Secondary Schools such as the Churchlands SHS & the Balcatta SHS! Given that it is in Close Proximity to the City & Lake Monger, this will also be another great option for me to live in Perth!

Great for

  • Close to the CBD.
  • Lots of Schooling Options
  • Lots of Parks
  • Excellent Location
  • Beautiful trees and gardens

"Perth's hidden gem"

I have been living in Joondanna at Powell St for over 10 years and I have to say in terms of affordability, and location the property here is still a good value as a place of residence and as an investment. The main highlights of this location is the closeness to the CBD and good environment. Rolls has no idea what he is talking about because Joondanna is a very quiet area. Just go take a look and see for yourself. As long as you avoid living in Wanneroo Road and Main st then you are fine (This applies anywhere not just Joondanna)

One of my favourite aspect of this location is that I do not see any hooligans wandering around unlike certain neighbouring areas near the city such as Tuart hill, and Yokine (no offence, both are still good areas). If you can't afford to buy a good house or unit in Leederville or Mount Hawthorn, Joondanna is the next best bet. Fundamentally strong with good rental returns and low vacancy rate. Prices are still reasonable and it is likely to climb if Perth prices continue to trend upwards.

Great for

  • No hooligans
  • Fundamentally strong investment
  • Excellent Location
  • Beautiful trees and gardens
  • Peaceful

Noisy? Which street did you live on? Main Street? or backing onto Wanneroo Rd? Most parts of Joondanna are quiet.

I used to go for works all over Joondanna, and would not have missed much street, and what I found is I was always thinking to myself that I would not want to live there as very noisy and I'm not talking about Main Street of Wanneroo Road, but the little back street which echoed the roar from the fore mentioned back streets. On top of that, there were only the odd house I liked there and priced well out of the reach of 95% of the general population. Location is good if working in the city, as just a short stroll to the train station meaning no parking problems, but you need to like where you are living and I did not like to live there for those prices.

"Peace and quiet close to the city"

Joondanna strikes the perfect balance between location and comfort. It is a short drive to Glendalough Train Station, short drive to the city, 15 minutes to Scarborough Beach, short drive to Edith Cowan University, short drive to the local shopping centre on Waneroo Rd, short drive to the cafe and restaurants on Main St, local parks surround it, several buses run through the area, yet somehow, it is so peaceful as well!
I really cant think of any negatives...you could even get by without a car due as everything you need is within a 30 minute walk or 10 minute bike ride. I left to go overseas and missed the lifestyle I had living on Stoneham Street before I'd even left. I would happily live there again if I return to Perth.
