Is Arlington Heights a dangerous neighbourhood?

I'm visiting in early May and will have to take transit to see the sights. I want to go to Venice Beach (I'm staying at a hotel in Hollywood) and Google Maps tells me I have to transfer at Crenshaw and Venice Boulevards. Even though I'm only waiting for a bus, is a yokel like me likely to get hassled - I know very little about L.A.-area neighbourhoods, so it would be nice to know the lay of the land. Thanks!

I am a young female who has lived in Arlington Heights for 5 years and I've never had an issue. It is like anywhere else in LA. Just be smart

I think technically I live adjacent to Arlington Heights but I go running along Venice and Crenshaw all the time and have never been hassled with anything more than the occasional annoying cat-call. More often people will shout friendly encouragements. There probably is a higher than average level of crime in the area and its not immaculately clean or anything but if you're just waiting for the bus on the corner you'll probably just be with working-class men and women commuting to/from work or families taking the bus down Venice to the beach. A homeless person might wander over talking to themself but they're not going to hurt you and they probably won't even ask you for money. I just wouldn't recommend waiting there by yourself after 10 pm.
