Heads up on where to head to?

Hello, I am moving to Melbourne later this year, and would appreciate a heads up on suitable areas to settle.

I would like to settle in a rural area, within approx 1 hours drive of the CBD. I would like somewhere with shops and good facilities, but plenty of space around so that you do not feel that you are living on top of each other. As we are moving from the uk, I would like to find a town/suburb with Character.

Initially I am considering the North and northwest regions.

Many thanks.

Tim.

It really depends on your budget.

The price of properties increases dramatically as you get closer to the city.
If you are not concerned with price Eltham is a lovely, leafy area with big blocks and a country feel. It is priced accordingly however.
If you go the other side such as Hillside or sydenham, prices are better but it lack trees and the country feel.
Mill Park or Epping are new suburbs and also nice and ruralish. Also well priced.

It all comes down to budget.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for suggestion. We have been looking at Eltham, North Eltham and Diamond Creek, and were hoping they are as you describe.

Best wishes
Tim.

Why not try the Mornington Peninsula?

It is usually cooler in summer and the beach access is fantastic. There are many open areas and the neighbourhoods have more of a village feel than suburban Melbourne.

The facilities are excellent. The views are great. The wineries are great as is the golf.

Worth considering.

Looking for a home in Melbourne (CBD), VIC 3000

Hi Wesley,

Thanks for the suggestion.

I am going to be working in North East, East Melbourne, so how long might the drive in take.

The furthest I would be likely to travel is towards Altona Meadows/point cook. How long do you think that would take in the rush hour?

I would love to live on the peninsula, but do not want to spend half my life in the car.

Your local knowledge is much appreciated.

Best wishes

Tim
