"A country town at heart"
I grew up in Oatley - Boorarra Ave to be exact. I have so many fond memories of attending Oatley Public School, getting picked up by the school bus outside my house. The school was lovely and the people in my year were friendly and kind. I remember attending Kinder garden in Russell Street. I remember as a child always feeling safe and secure while residing in Oatley. The gardens and clock tower were lovely to play around. I remember buying burgers from the milk bar and eating them with my family in the park across the road on summer evenings. My parents had a double block of land with a nice cottage on it. I have many memories of helping my mum in the vegi patch, swimming in our pool and socialising with our neighbours. We had dogs and ducks... I highly recommend the east side of Oatley on one of the many peninsulas, where it is quiet, away from the shops. The Oatley hotel and RSL are good places to hang out when you get older. You can have a few drinks and then walk home with your friends and not have to worry about gangland crime. Oatley will always have a dear place in my heart because of my fond childhood memories.

"A place where people care"
Having just come back from an overseas trip I knew I was in Oatley when having just come out of the train station a car stopped (no crossing) to let me cross the road. You can alway tell who is local by the the way they drive, locals will stop and let kids on bikes cross the road instead of speeding past to their next important meeting.
Having lived overseas and in Sydney’s inner west, I’m thrilled to be living in Oatley. There is a community feel to whole suburb that I’ve not come across anywhere else in Sydney. People say hello to each other when walking. Kids safely ride their bikes to school. The community gets behind local schools through fund raising activities. There are parks everywhere. Train rides to the city are less than half an hour.
There are local bars, great coffee shops and enough restaurants to keep most people happy. The only downside I can truly think of is the Lycra brigade.... talk about first world problems.

"Even their train station is fabulously landscaped..."
When you drive down Oatley, it’s gorgeous. Well manicured lawns, an amazing kids park but you know it is an exclusive family friendly suburb when you have a Facebook Neighbourhood watch, parents and community page. Oatley residents seem to really love their burb, do their best to keep it beautiful and look out for the neighbours. Only negative thing I have heard is that people tend to nosey around here! Lol

"A great place to raise family or for someone that is after country living with easy public access to city."
Oatley holds many happy memories for me. It is a family friendly suburb that offers a myriad of outdoor parks, many spots of natural beauty overlooking Georges River. Oatley is safe, peaceful and a wonderful place to live for families. Good local primary schools are within the suburbs and surrounds. The city is a 25-30 minutes via train during peak hours.
The streets of Oatley are generally tree-lined and single to double leveled dwellings. There are a number of great cafes with higher-end eateries from French, Asian and Italian being a few options. It is a major attraction for locals and a place for friends and families gatherings on weekends.

"A slice of Heaven...."
Oatley, where do I start. Surrounded by water and parks, Cafe's, shops, great school's, a train line and is green/clean and don't forget the popular Oatley Pub....
Oatley is a family oasis with regular planned event's.
In my opinion, this wonderful suburb has it all.
I follow the Realestate market in Oatley and I believe that this suburb out perform's most suburbs in the St George district.
I currently live in Mortdale and some how seem to end up in Oatley when we get out for walks, picnics or even to go for a coffee or breakfast/lunch.
Truely the place to bring up a young family or even retire.

"The perfect suburb for young families"
We have lived in the gorgeous Jewfish Point area of Oatley West for many years. Oatley West is the best part of Oatley because it does not have the high density (unit/apartment) concentration that applies on the Kogarah Council side (Oatley East). However, BOTH sides of Oatley are a joy to live in. Oatley is clean, leafy/green, child-friendly and because it is a cul-de-sac suburb, the traffic is low (especially on the Oatley West side). The whole suburb has a village atmosphere which is like a country hamlet within easy range to the city. Oatley is situated right on a rail line and is handy to the big shopping centres of Hurstville, Miranda, Riverwood and Bankstown. Oatley is only 10 mins from the M5 (giving drivers an easy 30 mins access to the city) and within 20 mins from the beautiful beaches of Cronulla, Shelley Beach, Gunnamatta Bay and Oak Park. Oatley has its own magnificent 45 hectare tree covered Park (which is one of the largest urban parks in Sydney); in addition the suburb is only a 20 minute drive to the Royal National Park (second oldest park in the world after Yellowstone). Residents of Oatley are spoilt for choice for cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs within the suburb and at nearby Mortdale and the very lively restaurant scene at nearby Beverly Hills and Sans Souci areas. Its a rare suburb that offers the perfect mix of trendiness and convenience in a beautiful leafy green waterfront suburb that provides a wonderful safe environment for its lucky residents (minus the crime, traffic and pollution of inner city areas). It is only 30 minutes from anywhere but, at night, the peace and quiet of Oatley is much appreciated - no trucks, no noisy traffic, no planes roaring overhead. Its the best kept secret in Sydney!

"Ding dong goes the James Oatley Clock"
This truly is country meets city.
Where else in Sydney do you have a grand old clock in the main street, reminding you to pick up the kids, get to the bank before 4pm or grab a bone for the dog when the butcher closes.
Oatley is a beautiful country town... with warm genuine people...though look out for the latte crowd, they're chiming in by the dozen.

"This is a place you never leave!"
Small boutique shops including the butcher and baker. A real community with concerts in the park, seasonal street fairs and mums with prams. This place really is Double Bay in the south. Great transport to the City, Eastern Suburbs, airport or beach. Great schools. Access to everything and its QUIET!. A peninsula suburb surrounded by waterways and the most beautiful parklands. To top it off it even has its own National Park. A wonderful place to live and - the pub is fantastic. Try the free Sunday Jazz or Friday night scene. Something for everyone. The restaurants are the locals secrets. Drive through on a Saturday morning to see Oatley in all its glory.

"The country in the city....."
Oatley is an excellent suburb to live in. It has a fantastic village atmosphere where people can walk to the shops, choose from numerous good coffee shops for a nice quiet coffee or meet up with friends you've had for years.
It is an extremely quiet and clean suburb. As it is not a suburb you actually go through except along Hurstville Road so traffic noise is virtually non existent. Beautiful parks and water ways add to the natural beauty of the area. Public transport links to the city, beaches or larger retail suburbs are excellent.
The choice of educational facilities in the suburb are excellent. The suburb is extremely safe and it is an area where you will still see children playing as a group having fun in the park or outside a house without the need for strict supervision.
We've lived in Oatley for 20years and it has been perfect. Great place, great friends, great environment. It's the sort of place than when you come home from work you look up the river and you feel you are on holidays. Very relaxing.

Okay neighbourhood. Waterfront homes drive the value. out of the way from most things and is on the most unreliable train line in sydney.
Suburb is located next to Mortdale, which is full of apartments and quite dodgy.
