Reviews of St Leonards, VIC
"A picturesque and quiet coastal town"
St Leonards, Victoria, is a picturesque and quiet coastal town that perfectly captures the essence of relaxed seaside living. My mornings often start at The Fig Tree Store, a delightful local cafe where the coffee is always superb, and the pastries are fresh and delicious. Just a short walk away, you'll find the St Leonards IGA, which is well-stocked with local produce and essentials, making shopping a breeze. For those who love unique finds, the St Leonards Market offers a charming array of handmade crafts and local specialties every month.
Life in St Leonards is full of leisurely activities and natural beauty. The St Leonards Pier is a favorite spot for fishing or simply enjoying the serene views of Port Phillip Bay. The St Leonards Yacht Club is perfect for sailing enthusiasts, offering regular races and a welcoming community.
Nature lovers will appreciate the Edwards Point Wildlife Reserve, with its peaceful walking trails and diverse birdlife. Community events, such as the annual St Leonards Christmas Parade, bring a festive spirit to the town and foster a strong sense of community. With its idyllic beaches, friendly locals, and a wealth of activities, St Leonards is a truly wonderful place to live.
"Live and travel to work."
Living is st leonards Victoria has become somewhat congested. We no longer breath fresh air but fumes. Trading just into Geelong is mayhem. What used to be a 20 min drive is now 1 + hour pending on traffic. Holiday season is awful you can not even get out of your driveway under 5- 10mins. Mainstream street has very few car parking spaces . We only have 1way lanes in + out of st Leonards.
Is chock full at all times now. 3 km of bumper to bumper vehicles to one way rd. Then getting to drysdale/portarlington/Queenscliffe now take up to a hour to get into.
So do not believe it takes 5- 10mins to Portarlington or drysdale 20 mins.
Best leave 1 hour before your meant too: for your appointments Leave very early. No spaces to overtake on 1 lane roads.
"Beautiful, peaceful town to live"
I lived in the City for most of my life and decided to buy and live here since I work from him. There’s plenty to do in summer, beach and markets, nice wineries and restaurants and nice people. I much prefer it to Geelong. In winter it’s very quiet though.

"The Beautiful Bellarine"
I consider myself fortunate that I can live and work in St Leonards, a small coastal village on the Bellarine Peninsula. The population swells over the Xmas period with holiday makers which gives the township that buzz and tourist atmosphere. The safe swimming beach, walks through reserves, and fishing draws people to the area. In the off season we as residents can take advantage of the peace and solitude, but know that we are only a 35 minute drive to Geelong or 90 minutes to Melbourne if we need to go cosmopolitan.
Great for
- No traffic lights
- Good fishing
- Great swimming beach

"Superb seaside location."
We moved here from Central Victoria in June 2010 and have found it is an ideal spot to live. Lots of community groups in the township and even more when you extend yourself across the northern Bellarine Peninsula. Many great social and community networks to join if you want to be active and participate. As a holiday destination for many, the population ebbs and flows according to the season.
Weather can be windy and sometimes bracing, but it is more than made up for in the number of glorious days that regularly occur.
Shopping facilities are reasonable – Chemist, Supermarket, Newsagent/Post Office, Pizza and Fish & Chip shops, Café and a Hardware Shop. If you need some retail relief Drysdale is 10 minutes and Geelong 25 minutes.
Town also has a Doctor Surgery and Community Health Centre. Ancillary health facilities abound in Drysdale.
