"Decent suburb but far from CBD for the price"
Peaceful area and people seem friendly. The buses come often but the commute can be 1-1.5 hrs some days. That’s a challenge for me as I work in the city. Nice suburb if you aren’t needing city proximity.

"Perfect Suburban Brisbane"
My wife and I with our 2 young kids moved here in 2021. We love the walkability of everything and love how connected to the outdoors algester is. We previously lived in a 2 bedroom apartment in Sydney and just couldn’t stand the lack of space. Happy as Larry here. Love the Asiamart for delicious banh mi’s and seafood.

"Great schools"
This suburb is the hidden treasure with so much to offer aspirational types. Young families abound. the highlight of this suburb would be the two primary schools in the heart of the suburb. No surprises that families are considering Algester in the same vein as Mansfield and Sunnybank Hills.

"Perfect for young families"
We've recently moved here with our young kids (all primary aged). It's such a beautiful suburb and the community is very dynamic, diverse and positive. It's close enough to Brisbane to feel like an outer urban suburb but also far away enough to be it's own suburb. Col Bennett park is awesome at sunset!

"Great Schools and Family Friendly"
Algester State School is fast becoming one of the top state schools in Brisbane. This is a undervalued suburb that has a lot to offer young families.

"Location With The Works"
Arriving here in 2012 from NZ, I found Algester to be a very welcoming, friendly and clean suburb from the start. Lots of parks and bush tracks/bikeways to keep active. Schools and days cares are all very handy and enough shopping to keep you well stocked. Should you need to visit a mall, then a short drive in either direction is all that is needed. A mix of young and old, plenty of house proud owners which makes for a well presented neighbourhood. 10/10 suburb.

"Perfect for me!"
Love Algester. What a great find. Close to motorway, busses to city or train interchange. Great local shops too!
Friendly neighbours and neighbourhood. Everyone keeps a lookout for others.
Not to mention the great range of food outlets and proximity to Sunnybank hills and Garden City! My forever burb!

"Best uber eats delivery options outside of Sunnybank!"
Would be 5 stars if not for the recent crime jump
"Still a friendly little town"
One of my favorate things about Algester is that the people that live there are more country than City.
You can notice this easily by going for a stroll through any local park. You'll notice everyone you pass smiles and says hello or greets you positively. Such a welcoming experience unlike anything I've had anywhere else in Brisbane. Mostly home owners, mostly friendly. Great little Burb.

Hi rahul, i am moving from newzealand, can you guide me which suburbs and schools are good for family and kids. I search little bit and gound parkridge , greenbank or pallara and rochdele is a expensive one
It depends on where will you be working. If you are looking at working in the cbd then the travel from park ridge, free bank etc is a lot. Also depending on what you are willing spend as well. Do you preference for schools etc?
"Beautiful community"
We bought our home in Algester five years ago. Our neighbours are absolutely beautiful and warm, and so kind to our kids. Everyone in our street looks out for one another. We love the gorgeous sunsets. Easy to commute via car and quick trip down to the Gold Coast for a swim (45 minutes to beach, 45 minutes to the CBD = heaven). We love it here.

"The place that you can call home"
I live near the boarder of Parkinson and Calamvale, friendly neighborhood, alot of parks and you will get a smile or 'Hi'when some one walk pass you. You wouldnt be able to get this from other suburbs like sunnybank, eight mile plaint, etc... Helpful neighborhood that will take care of house when I am not in town....

"Great area for people wanting to live quietly and in peace"
Ive lived here for a little over 10 years and lived in neighbouring Parkinson for 2 years before that and love the area. It's clean, quiet and perfect for families or anyone that doesn't want nightlife or major traffic on your doorstep. Local school, Calamvale Community College is great, well resourced with beautiful grounds and newish buildings. Nice parks and the suburb still has a little bit of natural bush and nature around it.

"Not welcoming"
My first impressions of Algester were not good. Went to look at a rental and as soon as I got out of my car there were a group of people yelling out their window from their apartment at me, whistling at me, and trying to get me to go up there. Their presentation wasn't great and the skulls hanging from their window turned me completely off considering renting anywhere near them.
Not great for
- Lack of shopping options
- Traffic noise
there is no apartment in algester
I agree with Athena, there are no apartments in Algester at the time of writing
"Quiet and friendly"
I live at the southern end of Algester that boarders Calamvale and Parkinson. I absolutely love where I live. The neighbours are friendly and quiet. The local shopping area (Supa IGA, the medical centre and Chemist etc) are fantastic and are very friendly and helpful.
The city bus service can not be faulted. There are plenty of childcare services and three local schools. Two gyms nearby and a pool.
Easy quick access to the Gold Coast and or the airport and Sunshine Coast via the Logan motorway.

"Just moved here"
Just moved here, Really nice neighborhood, safer and clean, 130 and 135 bus directly connected to CBD and garden city. However despite of the lack of shopping and entertainment facilities, the traffic noise have become my major problem, Ever morning start at 4am, that car and truck just making noise that hit thru your window, at 5am Corvus and birds join the party, rly annoying, now I am thinking to build a soundproofing fence around my house.
Great for
- Nice, clean and friendly neighborhood
- Reasonable price compare to sunnybank and sunnybank hills
- Direct bus connection, even it takes almost an hour to CBD
Not great for
- Traffic noise
- Lack of shopping options

"Great suburb to live in"
Algester is a fantastic suburb to live in. I have lived in the area for the last 16 years attending Algester Primary School and being a part of the Algester Little Athletics Club and am not looking to move anywhere anytime soon. Having schools, shops, parks, cafes all within a short distance, very frequent buses to take you directly into the city. Located in a quiet pocket of South Brisbane it is only a 20 minute drive into the city or 40 minutes to the Gold Coast.

"Friendly safe community"
Close to everything. Very handy for those last minute things (IGA). Great for catching the bus. Nice little eatery places nearby. Gym, parks, schools, kinders, shopping centres etc. Great for raising a family and nice and quiet, no trouble what so ever. Tidy. Quite, safe, close to the city. Central to almost everything the list goes on!

"Nice area close to everything"
Great for families, close to schools, parks, bike tracks, shops, public transport ect
Yes its an older area however it gives a great balance of activity and of quiet living. No pretensious fakes here - just real people people living in a great community. And great property value to boot
Well, perhaps it's not the right suburb for "A" to live then. Hopefully "A"s found himself somewhere that welcomes people that can't even form a complete sentence while bagging a suburb.
"A great balance"
Living here is great. I find Algester to be smack in the middle of the City, Airport and Gold Coast. With motorways and major roads handy, getting places is always quick and easy. There is also a bus every ten minutes ot the City, so you don't even have to check your bus schedule, just go to the bus stop, there will be a bus. Heaps of schools and childcare is available. To me Algester provides just the right blend and balance of good things to make it a great place to live.
