Ballina is ruined. It used to be a great place to live but since the pandemic everyone from Sydney moved here and along with that has brought more traffic, pushed rentals through the roof and increased crime. Car thefts and home invasions and the drug problem is out of control. We don’t want the northern rivers to become another Gold Coast so what’s with the new thousand sets of lights coming into Ballina now??!!! Fix the bridge coming into Ballina- build another lane and fix the drainage problem with high tides. All in all we moved away from Ballina and shop online for big w etc rather than driving into this hole of a place. Only nice thing of course are the beautiful beaches. That’s it!

I just had to move to Ballina from the gold coast . Got away from the big smoke and traffic jams to come to paradise. To the restaurants, cafes, shops, clubs, surfing , whalewatching , fishing, boating, kayaking, golfing , clean untouched beaches , waterslides, walking and cycle paths, gyms , great library. Ballina has it all for me never want to leave. I could go on and on how good it is to live in Ballina. Its like living on holiday everyday. Oh and the people I have come in contact with are friendly too.

We live in Ballina and watched the changes. Too many people, drive to the shops you will put your life in your hands. River street is a joke. After 9am, you have to drive around to find a car space. The drug addicts, crims, take over parts of the city after dark. The super school being built, where will everyone find a car space? Poor planning from council. Ballina is suffering from extreme going pains. Too many people and not enough land.

Water slides for the kids, golden beaches, fishing, boating, bushwalking.... cafes, restaurants, shops....what more could you want. This place is laid back but it's slowly changing and becoming more popular.

Ballina is a great place to retire in. The beach areas are great.

Ballina is situated on the eastern coast of Australia about 750 km north of Sydney. It is a thriving town, with a population of nearly 17,000.

The major drawcard is the coastline - there are many stunning beaches and great surf. The sand is pure and white, and the sea is a deep blue.

It is a lovely spot to raise a family. The large size of the city means that there are all of the essential services, shops and a number of schools.

There is quite a sporting culture in the town too, not too mention a cruisy and laidback surf culture as well.

Ballina has its own airport too, so it's easy to stay connected with the rest of Australia from here.

Ballina is at the mouth of the Richmond River and is a fantastic place to holiday or live. There is so much to do. The town is large enough to house all the amenities one needs including shopping centres, swimming pool, ten pin bowling, tennis and golf. The price of real estate is starting to creep up as this town becomes more popular.You can have your choice of cafes and restaurants and accommodation is available to suit all budgets. Between the beaches and rivers of this area you can indulge your favourite water sport be it swimming, kayaking, surfing fishing, etc . The Hinterland offers good walking trails. There are craft shops and your chance to purchase locally made gifts and fresh produce.

Ballina has a most unusual situation in that it is actually situated on an island. If you quickly look at a map it does not look like it, but it is totally surrounded by rivers. The area is known as The Northern Rivers.

There seems to be something for everybody around the Ballina area. There is the tranquility of the rivers, the surf, fishing, adventure trips, long white sandy beaches and upmarket cafés and shopping. There are clubs and pubs throughout the area with a ready supply of entertainment and quality meals.

Safe swimming, boating and fishing is available for the littlies so this makes a great place for a family holiday.

Various markets are held in town during the month and during the year there are quite a number of activities like bands playing, rodeos and the like.
