"A comfortable community"
Banksia Beach is quiet and friendly. The local shopping centre caters for most needs. There are lots of activities, particularly for retirees, and plenty of opportunity to display community spirit and involvement. We are new residents (6 months here) and settled in easily, once we went out and offered our services with several organisations. It is a short drive to a homemakers centre and we travel regularly to Brisbane without fuss, being able to often see shows and visit family. We have found the perfect location for retired persons.
Great for
- Easy access to medical services
- Friendly
- Safe
Not great for
- Too many roundabouts
- Lots of speeding 4WDs
"Love it"
Since moving from interstate I could not find a place I would rather live. Halfway between Brisbane City and the Sunshine Coast is ideal. Lovely parklands, clean beaches and a safe environment to raise your family. The Surf Club has the best meals and is a perfect place to wind down on a weekend. We have markets, art gallery, museum, coffee shops, clean bbq's on the beach front (including toilet facilities), a marina and boat ramps, restaurants, gyms, shopping centres, swimming, fishing, camping, 4wd access north of the island, Love it! Queenslanders tend to think that it is a place for retirees, but they still visit on their holidays so it cant be all that bad!!

Love the visitors, it is the family and friends that are hard to ask to leave, especially when you need your spare room back. Paradise Island.
Banksia Beach stretches from the Pumicestone Passage with magnificent Glasshouse Mountain views right up to the Pacific Harbour Golf & Country Club. Having moved here from Brisbane for a "seachange" over 3 years ago, we absolutely love the Island lifestyle. Apart from the obvious fishing, boating and swimming, Banksia Beach offers something for every age group. We have markets, art and craft groups, music and theatre groups, all types of sporting activities and a wonderful community spirit. It is a safe and friendly place to live and we love it!

I could not agree with you more. Love It!
Vandals galore live here. After dark Banksia Beach turns into 'youth town'. The amount of damage done to residents letter boxes, street signs, garage doors and fronts of houses is unbelievable. Certainly not a relaxed atmosphere at all. Too many renters and therefore untidy house fronts. Definitely not what it is made out to be. If you are thinking of coming up here for a peaceful relaxing retirement...think again!!
Hi Tasman, I live in Banksia Beach and so did my Mother and Father, as do many of my friends. I do have to disagree with all of what you have said. I am sorry your experience has not been what you expected.
Well, you are entitled to your opinion but you only needed to read the local papers. Ask our neighbours in and around our street, even up at the golf and country club. Go to the local neighbourhood watch meetings and find out what people have been putting up with.
You do realise these ratings were posted nearly 2 years ago and only now you decide to comment?!
This is MY review and MY opinion. Disagree all you like. I will say it has wonderful fishing and the beaches are great thoug
Agreed, your review and your opinion. I have only just joined this forum and I am sorry your experience in Banksia Beach has not been a good one. Mine on the other hand, has been an excellent one. We are both entitled to our opinions. Cheers.
Shane is a real estate agent and has vested interests in the area, so will have a biased opinion to sell property

I'm moving to Banksia Beach to retire early 2022 and whilst I found forums useful as a sounding board of opinions I have learnt to rely mostly on my own wisdom and planning to decide about a place. I visited, watched, listened and talked to locals in a variety of places and circumstances. I took my time and compared before deciding. For me the place is great for others it may not suit their needs
Gosh, hope you are right pauld57. We have bought a canal property Banksia Beach in readiness for our long worked for retirement in 2022. Tasman's review of vandals youthtown after dark is very concerning for us.
We just bought as well. It looks to be a nice quiet street with a lot of retired people in it. So fingers crossed. Our block backs onto the scrub. If we have an issue. Ill just get a front fence like some people in our street. A couple of German Shepherds might be a nice added feature too.
