Reviews of Beechworth, VIC

"Fantastic Area, Beechworth is a place for 'Lifestyle Therepy!'"

Beechworth has a fantastic atmosphere, from the moment you arrive you can't seem to place your finger on it. Beechworth has something. Maybe its the glimmering gold rush heyday, The town's apperance hasn't modernised, it is largely unchanged since the late 1800's. There are no trafficlights, no flashing neon signs, no pollution, grime or crime. For many coming from the city its a welcome attitude adjustment! But far from being a desolate country town, Beechworth has a booming economy, businesses are fantastic, innovative and friendly! The only real corporate identity in town is the IGA, which can be a little challenging to find, a rather large supermarket is cleverly disguised. Remember when you are visiting though, keep an eye on parking limits, although there is no parking fee, there still are time limits in some areas. Over staying your 'welcome' could cost you a fine! If you haven't visited Beechworth, its definatly worth it. About 3 hours from Melbourne if you drive, only 30 mins from Wangaratta, Wodonga and Myrtleford. About an hour to Mt Buffalo. V-line will bring you straight to Beechworth.

"A place to grow fat."

The bakery is to die for and the opportunities of eating too much are plentiful.

Creamboy, may I suggest that next time you visit, take advantage of the excellent facilities at the Beechworth Squash and Fitness Center! You can get a casual visit, or hire out the squash courts for the day. That way, balance it all out so you can eat more pies!

"Charming little town"

Beechworth is a charming, and tidy little town located in the north-east of Victoria. The drive from Melbourne to Beechworth is about three hours. Beechworth is famous for its gold rush history, association with Ned Kelly and Beechworth bakery. There is even a Chinese museum to educate people on the history of the Chinese people and their contribution to the gold rush period in Beechworth.

Just like any other country town, there are plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants around Beechworth for the whole family. The most interesting shop will have to be the lolly shop. This shop stocks all types of different lollies that you can think of. Also, there are plenty of heritage buildings around this area. Despite their age, they have been well maintained and kept alive by the businesses that are conducted on those premises. Each year, Beechworth attracts plenty of tourists and it is a definite must-see town if you are ever in rural Victoria.
