Reviews of Cobar, NSW
"Pretty town"
I stopped here overnight on my way to SA. I thought was a lovely leafy town in comparison to its surrounding towns.
"Pros of a small town without the cons"
Cobar is just big enough to keep you busy, there's always something to do, or some event, and there's a club for just about everything. People here are motivated, innovative, engaging & interesting. There's a lake right at your doorstep where you can go for a little ski or wakeboard & lots of bush to explore.
While still having lots going on, it still has the great things about a small country town- it's quiet, the kids can play safely, friends are not far away, people are polite & honest & there is a strong community spirit.
Great for
- Activities to do
- Friendly people
- Good investment opportunities
- Plenty of high paying jobs
- Safe environment
"Not for the family"
The best thing about Cobar is the people. The Preschool is wonderful but otherwise there is not alot to keep young kids entertained. Availability at the childcare centre is poor but the quality of care is not too bad. Don't try to eat out the options are not good and even takeaway pizza is over priced. If you are single or a childless couple and want a nice house in a nice street for a good price and want the mining money, Cobar is perfect.

There is now a fantastic dance centre with classes for girls, boys and adults. They also run discos for the kids.
