Reviews of Duncraig, WA
"Bliss"
Love at first sight when I moved to Perth years ago and finally made the decision to buy in Duncraig. Lots of young families, retirees, DINK's etc. Friendly people in local pubs, close to excellent beaches to suit a range of preferences. Whatever lifestyle anybody seeks, can find in Duncraig.

"Wonderful community"
I have lived and worked in Duncraig for 11 years. We have a very special community here of caring people. Our schools are highly rated, it’s a very leafy suburb with many parks and playgrounds, small neighbourhood shopping centres, quality cafes and we have a farmers market - a great place to meet up on a Saturday morning. Easy access to the freeway and close proximity to Greenwood or Warwick train stations. Perfect suburb for young families.

"Sad place to live"
I have been living here with my young family for a year and we're packing up and out. It is a tired old suburb with nothing to do, and zero opportunities for children. No good schools, no cultural life, no events, no opportunities. There are so-called bogans and chavs getting drunk and yelling every Friday/weekend. Drugs is a problem.
"ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL PLACE !!!!"
We have lived in Duncraig for 8 years. Bought our house here because the block was big and the trees are even bigger. Fantastic bird life. It's a very quiet suburb with all the amenities and facilities, beautiful parks and clean streets. Only 7 or 8 minutes walk to Greenwood station. Less than 5 km to Sorrento Beach. Honestly cannot say anything negative about living here.

"Wouldn't lIve there for free"
Area is old and run down, local shops have had no work to keep up with the times. A lot of bogans. Barely any street lights.
"Best decision ever"
After a thorough research (I even made Excel documents to compare all the aspects-crime rates etc.- of the candidate suburbs), we bought our first home in Duncraig last year and we love it here.
I mainly shop at Whitfords shopping mall which is very modern and nice. We’ve got two local IGAs and it’s so convenient when you need to buy a couple of things you’ve forgotten to buy from the mall.
I work in East Perth and it takes about 35mins in the rush hour, otherwise 20mins!
It’s a family friendly neighbourhood and I’ve heard lots nice things about the schools in the area so I can’t wait to send our future kids to local schools.
At first, we considered Padbury, Kingsley and some other more affordable areas but I’m so glad we picked Duncraig.

"A fantastic place to live"
Duncraig is a fantastic suburb. Not only with great parks, schools and most importantly neighbours. It can be fairly noisy depending where you are. Block sizes are big, houses are easy to renovate etc. But the biggest thing for Duncraig is the people, they are all fantastic and very easy to get along with. I am in this suburb for life!

"The best spot in Perth for young families!"
We just moved here from Melbourne and my partner and I LOVE it. We are city people & were going to live in North Perth but decided that Perth is best known for its beaches and space to we decided to go a bit North and coastal. We just started a family and are so glad to be out of the city - its so clean, so much space, so many parks - schools are great. The houses are very cool and easy to do cosmetic renovations to. Its funny that Perth people think of Duncraig being out in the burbs but really its 10 minutes to the city & a few minutes to the beach - just thinkin 10 years it will be considered inner city due to the rapid growth rate here - great investment & somewhat inexpensive for now! So glad we picked Duncraig - we have met a lot of young couples here just like us who feel the same!

"Perfect place."
Lived in S.Duncraig for only three months, feels more like a year. Moved into the area with my wife and two children. My neighbours can't do enough for us, the schools are the absolute best, from kindy through to senior high. Beach is five minutes drive away, freeway the same and only fifteen minutes to the city. Carine Space and shopping centre are fantastic. Thought about relocating further afield but can't seem to find anywhere that ticks all the boxes, Duncraig may not suit everyone, but it certainly offers everything for my family.

"A paradise for families"
Duncraig is leafy and green with loads of parks and walk-ways. It's a lovely community where people are friendly and neighbours talk over the fence. We moved to Duncraig for our children and I am so glad that we managed to secure a future in this suburb for our sons.

"So glad I live here"
I moved 6 months ago from one of the dodgiest streets in Innaloo (in between the Saint and public housing), moving to Duncraig has been the best decision I've made in a long time. It feels so safe, which is especially important given its just us two girls, we were looking to move to Scarborough to be close to the beach and city, I'm so glad we 'settled' for a further out Suburb as it has paid off in dividends, there are so may parks, it's so peaceful and quiet, and all our neighbours are so friendly.

"A wonderful suburb for the young and the old"
I have lived in Duncraig for 17 years and have moved twice within this same suburb. The second home I purchased was on a large 800 + sqm block. I pulled the home down and have now built the home of my dreams. It was an expensive change over but I could not bear to leave this suburb. I am raising my children here, they attend a very good private school in the same suburb and all their friends live close by. So close to Hillarys and Whitfords and surrounded by beautiful parks, Duncraig is everything we could ever wish for!

"Best Suburb in Perth for families"
After moving up here from a swish southern suburb I find that Duncraig has a lot more to offer than anyone seems to see. Schools, trains, shops, safe and close to everything. The homes are well kept without being pretentious and the community is warm and welcoming.

"Typically Australia"
A fabulous example of why it is great to be Australian. Everyone takes pride in their homes, there is an abundance of open space and so close to our fabulous coast at a reasonable price. Living in Duncraig is a pleasure.

"Fantastic family environment!"
Best public and private schools are in this area. Lots of sporting/extracurricular activities available to children. Close to beach, yet affordable, lots of people here are home-owners. Suburb is safe and friendly. Great shopping complexes nearby, fitness centres, aquatic centres close. I have lived here for 13 years and sometimes think about shifting-like across the road to Sorrento to be a bit closer to the beach but then I think well what else has Sorrento got that Duncraig doesn't? Nothing! Except the properties cost more! I'd rather be mortgage free and living in Duncraig :-)

"Duncraig is a great family or couples neighbourhood - fantastic for kids"
We love it here.
Good Schools, low crime rate, lots of little cul-de-sacs and ways so it is quiet and good for kids.
Not too many renters so it has a "houseproud" feel.
We looked in a lot of places and chose a smaller, older house in Duncraig over a huge McMansion in the outer suburbs for the same price.

"Most under rated suburb in Perth"
Living here is fantastic - close enough to everything but far enough to avoid the hassles. Beach minutes away, great schools, barely lock the door or the car, good neighbours.
I love Duncraig - the only suburb I rate higher is Trigg but it is crazy expensive.

"Great place to live"
I've rented a house in Duncraig for 10 years - it wasn't easy to find as there are not a lot of rentals in this suburb, but its a great suburb. My kids go to school in nearby Padbury and on weekends, its just a 3 minute drive to Hillarys marina. Good access to public transport, and Whitfords City Shopping Centre is just up the road. Its a great place for raising a family, clean, safe and lots of nearby parks for the children to play.

We are a young family and considering also moving from Melbourne to Perth (better weather/lifestyle, closer to UK for trips home etc etc). If we make the move we were thinking about putting down routes in the Duncraig area. What are the people like? Demographic etc? We are in bayside in Melbourne - does this area have a similar feel?
