Reviews of Forrest, ACT
"Beautiful Forrest"
Forrest is peaceful with wide streets and verdant gardens. It is occupied by a variety of birdlife - cockatoos, gang gangs, magpies, blue wrens, silver-eyes, rosellas, green parrots, black swans, honey eaters even whip birds and bell birds at certain times of the year. The last two varieties normally do not venture out of the rainforest on the coast, so it is a treat to find them inland. Forrest has beautiful old architecture and some new - with prominent architects from the 1920s and 30s to the twenty first century represented. Houses are usually substantial - being of double brick with large rooms, and open fireplaces. It is a quiet place to live, even the harshness of summer or the winds from coldest winter are alleviated by the trees, bushes and shrubs that adorn the suburb. In spring the walks around the suburb are superb as you are assailed by the perfume of daphne, jonquils, hyacinths, varous blossom trees that are in virtually every garden. It is the nicest place to live in Canberra, by far.
