"Safe area"
Small quiet suburb. Shops are good lots of parks for kids. Beautiful wildlife in the area.
Never had any trouble. My neighbours have lived here 30 years and still don't lock their doors. I feel 100% safe. I often jog late at night due to work hours and don't feel scared even though lighting is poor. mainly white anglo saxon families and older people.

"A quiet town"
I have lived in Glossodia for nearly 10 years and have never had any problems at all. It is a quiet and clean area with a great community spirit. Its like living in a rural town but being relative close to most amenities. The neighbours i have are mostly older, retired people and young families with kids under 5. Everyone keeps to themselves but are always keen for a wave and a chat over the garbage bins on bin night. Some examples of the community are we were out the front of our place trying to push a ride on onto a trailor, a man drove past and saw us and stopped and came and helped. I didnt know him but he helped us get the ride on onto the trailor. Another one is when i stopped to grab something out of the boot one night, put my hazards on and two cars stopped to help, thinking i had broken down.
The shops have a great butcher, video shop, pizza shop, small grocery shop, pharmacy, takeaway and bottleshop. I have never had any problems with the shop owners and the butcher is especially nice. The childcare is great, small and personalised. The school looks good but my kids are too small so i dont know much about it. There has been some graffiti in the carpark at the shops but i havent seen large groups of kids hanging around. I have been at night to the poorly lit carpark and never had any problems.
Social life is pretty much non existant at night. there is no where to go and nothing to do. During the day, there are some great kids parks in the area, mums groups at the community centre, zumba classes and other classes at the community centre. I walk alot but havent had any problems with dogs or groups of kids even around the shops. Loads of hills so great for exercise but it is a pain to push prams up those hills!!! No paths on most roads either so you have to use the side of the road. The houses are a mix of normal blocks, small acreage and large acreage. Strange mix of people live here. Yes there are some renters and some people who dont look after there houses but i think you get that everywhere. Its no where near on par with Mt Druitt, not even close!!!!! ( I have done some work in Mt Druitt so i definately know!!!) - no housing commission houses here. The other type of people are the pretty wealthy ones with the large acreage lots
I love living in Glossodia, i feel safe, the kids feel safe. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to live out here.

"Glossodia is old run down and nobody cares. Worse than Mt Druitt"
I have lived in Glossodia for over 30 year's. It used to be nice and friendly family orientated place to live, quite safe for children. Now the place is full of vandals, ferrel unruly children street fight's and just general hoons. it is far from quiet especially on a weekend. Kid's vandal your post box so you have to have a very strong one.
A lot of people out here don't take pride in their properties, they are very out dated and run down( there would be about 25% that aren't). A lot of run down rentals, that are cheap to rent and attract undesirable tenant's. I would say Glossodia is made up of a good 30% in rental's.
It is 15km's to shops in Windsor and about 20-25km to richmond.
We have a local shop that sell's rotten out of date food and the service station will deliberately over charge you to get more money. The bottle o and Butcher are good( they used to live in Glossodia themselves not any more) and the take away is good food, but unfriendly staff and owner.
The chemist is helpful and reasonably priced.
If you are seriously thinking of moving out here have a good drive around and stop at the shop's to make up your own mind of the area.
Not great for
- Bad behind school.
- Un safe for children on the street's due to bulling and visious dogs.
- Dirty street's.
We have been here for 27 yrs, it's quiet, safe, friendly and a beautiful community that's both respectful and committed. I can't complain about anything.
"Small, friendly home town."
Glossodia is set at the foot hills of the Blue Mountains, a lot of homes in Glossodia have beautiful views of the Blue Mountains as well. It is quiet with a small shopping centre, community centre and football/cricket fields.
Most homes are occupied by young families and children can attend the highly commended Glossodia Public School set in the heart of the township.
