Reviews of High Wycombe, WA
"Awesome suburb!"
We have been living here for years . Not a single issue . Very central location - close to the city , airport and all required facilities. Prior to the train station I don’t think many ppl were aware of the suburb. However that has all changed! It’s a hidden gem. I remember a buyers agent once telling me that!
So glad we bought here ! If you are looking to buy don’t think twice .

"Great suburb very central"
I have been living in high wycombe for 6 years and its a great suburb for families. We have not had any issues and the ppl around are friendly. Properties are being snapped up quickly and it seems that more young professionals are shaping the demographic of the suburb by taking advantage of the location and transport hub. The 20 min train ride to the city is great!

"Absolute dump"
I unfortunately bought here not really quite how shitty it was. On the plus side its close to the airport but I can't really think of any other positives... There seem to be three main demographics; a few nice old folks, those living in poverty and then the cashed up bogans. Oh and I can't forget all the bloody antivax/maskers who abuse the poor 15yo working at the shops. With proposals for mass public housing development in the new train station precinct I'm sure it's only going to get worse.
"Great place to live"
We moved here 4 years ago from Ellenbrook which we hated Ellenbrook to far away we love High Wycombe we think it's quite place to live just a little noise at night from the hoons but it doesn't bother me I love living on a large 1000m2 block and our neighbors have all got big blocks too so we do not hear them and it's a quite culdasac street. I love how close we are to the airports it has great private schools near by and the highways are close the shopping centres Carousel or Midland are close by.

"A sweet little secret! Great future potential. Buying agent recomended!"
At the foot of the perth hills, leafy without the fire danger. Great for families and perfect for fifo lifestyle as close to the airport. Would like more fifo support groups in the area but im working on it! Airport traffic not imposing at all. Great playground for kiddies of all ages. Right next to direct upgraped highway into the city and Roe highway straight across to fremantle and access to nearest beaches. Views of the city skyline in some areas! Great investment area sub-dividable R25 blocks with mainly well kept exsisting homes. Amazing rental yields and proposed R40 rezoning will secure great capital growth. Low crime and pleasent neighbouring suburbs including Kalamunda. Proposed metrolink airport line to terminate at Forrestfield under a Labour government and would also secure jump in capital growth. Steady capital growth history as low risk. Suburbia as close to the city as you can get with the city not far! We love slower pace with friendly neighbours and the fiesty city pace balance which is just what High Wycombe offers :)
Great for
- Promising investment suburb
- Shire of Kalamunda
- Fifo friendly
- Friendly neighbors
- Peace and quiet
- Proximity to amenities
Not great for
- Could be closer to the beach but plenty of pools!

"A quiet little Road in the Heart of High Wycombe"
Warner Road is close to everything, parks, schools, library, shops and public transport. This is a one block L shaped road with local traffic and very tranquil. It's two blocks away from public transport and 5 minutes walk to shops, school and library. Residents are friendly and there is a few renovations lifting the spirit of the local.
Great for
- Proximity to amenities
- Friendly neighbors
- Peace and quiet
Not great for
- A few older but well kept houses

"A great place to live that's close to North and South!"
High Wycombe is directly east of Perth and it takes no more than 20 minutes to get into the CBD. If you want to go to the Galleria, it's 15 minutes away, exactly the same time it takes to get to Carousel. Midland is less than a 10 minute drive as well. Kalamunda is only 10 minutes away for that perfect retreat away from the rural life. The only place that takes a good time to get to is the beach, which on average is a 35-40 minute drive. That being said, Roe Highway has reduced the time it takes to get to Fremantle, which now only takes 30 minutes. The large planes do NOT fly over High Wycombe, even though the international airport is no more than a 10 minute drive.
The new shopping centres (yes that's 2) have between them Coles, Supa IGA, Baker's delight, McDonalds, Subway, hairdressers, continental deli, butcher etc just to name a few. The Tavern has great food and the pizza is awesome. There are many fish and chip shops, Chinese restaurants and the world known Matteo's Pizzaria which locals love.
High Wycombe has a reputation for being one of the safest areas to live in, so much so that SGIO offer a safe neighbourhood policy on home insurance. It has a private school and 2 public primary schools, with the option to send your teen to 3 public highschools with buses that will travel directly to them.
Take a drive around High Wycombe, it's a very big suburb and get a feel for it. It's a great place to raise children, retire in the new retirement village, or if you fly in and fly out, it's so close to the airport for those annoying trips to the airport.

On behalf of the Kalamunda Oral History Society I would like to know of any folks who have lived in the High Wycombe/Maida Vale area for most of their lives so we can gather information on what it was like then and now. This involves an interview and a CD plus any photos they may have and at the end they will receive bound transcript and CD of their interview. This would help greatly in preserving the history of the area. My name is Valerie and my phone number is 0427204107 if you want to participate. Thank you
