"Amazing Pocket"

I live in Kariong and its one of the best places to live in the coast. I guess its the first suburb from Sydney to Central coast which means reaching to sydney is only 30 min drive, and you can reach hornsby in 40 min. So travelling to Sydney for work daily is not a big hassle and I do this daily. Also it is all surrounded by national park making it very peaceful and green. The surrounding national park is protected which means there are limited supply of land. Also there are no unnecessary crowd or people due to not having train line. This is one of the safest suburb with a friendly neighbourhood and lovely people. It has good schools, parks, beach in 12min drive, alot of places to hike. Best family friendly suburb.

"Great family village"

Love living in Kariong. I'm lucky to live next to the bush at the end of a cul de sac, so it's super quiet and tranquil. Very close to Gosford and Sydney.

"family centered commuter town"

Watched this town grow over the past 30 years . Fantastic place to start a family and raise kids. Commuted to Sydney for 10 years before transferring locally only 30 mins to Hornsby, train line is good but can be crowded at peak hour. Got a car then shopping is close 3-5 mins to Coles West Gosford and many other major outlets and a gym . Multiple pre-schools, good primary near new quality high school. I still feel safe enough to go jogging at anytime much better than the northern beaches where many residents originated from. Local employment can be difficult for teens.

Great for

  • Lots of local sporting organisations
  • Brilliant child care and good schooling.
  • Family friendly.
  • Good house re-sale
  • Low crime rate

Not great for

  • Local employment
  • Lack of quality restaurants
  • High rents

"Friendly Suburb - Lots of families"

Lived here for 2 years. Very friendly suburb. Close to the F3, great childcare. Can have a bit of occasional trouble with teens hanging around the shops or walking around on the weekends, but nothing too bad considering how many teens actually live around here. Although there is no gym there are a few personal trainers that run heaps of classes. Its kind of like living in a friendly small town in that you get to know people and see familiar faces around everywhere, but you can have as much or as little to do with people as you like.

Great for

  • Good house re-sale
  • Brilliant child care and good schooling.
  • Family friendly.

Not great for

  • High rents
  • Lack of quality restaurants

"Family friendly oasis"

Been living here for a few years now and love the place. Quiet and trouble free (a pleasant change from Sydney). There is everything you need here, shops and facility wise. Schooling and preschools are of a very high quality.
Only minutes to a multitude of beaches. Kids love Umina and Ettalong and we love Terrigal and Avoca.
Only thing lacking are some high quality restaurants (Thai takeaway is quality). The two new cafes are both very solid and cafe at mt Penang is good spot for interstate quests.
Very few negatives compared with most places I have lived in Sydney.

  • Family friendly.

Its not like they are roaming around the suburb you plum!
Locked up behind 20ft fences so its a pretty irrelevant comment. I'd imagine it employs quite a few local people.
