Reviews of Kooringal, NSW
"Diverse suburb"
A diverse suburb with housing options for all budgets.
- Suburb is geographically large and has its own local shopping centre and medical services
- Lower parts of the suburb do have areas of housing commission
- Homes get increasingly better as you progress up the hill with streets having great views and homes selling for >$1 million
- Schooling options are good, with private and public school options
- Sturt Public School and Kooringal High School are both NSW Department of Education selective schools (ie classes catering for the gifted and talented)
Overall a good suburb, close to the centre of town and industrial areas for employment. Just live as high on the hills as your budget will allow.

"Chiefly Crescent"
Kooringal has it's very good points, and it's very bad points. Went to see a couple of properties for rent in Cheifly Crescent as it had some lovely looking places, newly renovated, only to find people walking down the street with beer bottles, loud music playing and alot of shouting and abuse. Was sad to see some nice families living there, and were very friendly when we asked about the place. Some of the houses were in very poor repair, (as if they'd been vandelised).
The road is right within walking distance to Kooringal High, primary schools and child care; and very close to the shopping centre. Was disapointed with the street as it's got so much going for it, and yet the things going against it, as parents with children aged 2 and 5, out weighed everything else.
Great for
- Terrific, forward thinking schools
- Lovely homes in North and West Kooringal (West side of Lake Albert Rd)
- Lake Albert Road makes a handy throughfare between the CBD and Lake Albert
Not great for
- Cheifly Cresent,
- Several streets near Cheifly Cresent
- Need more 3 bed houses under $300p/w
