Reviews of Lawson, NSW
"Great Mid Blue Mountains Lifestyle"
With excellent local schools, the redevelopment in more recent years of the town centre and easy access to transport with the Great Western Highway and the local Train Station, Lawson is a lovely place to visit or live. The housing is an eclectic mix of some older historic cottages and new tastefully built homes and the new cafes, food stores and other services that came with the redevelopment of the town centre make for an easy to enjoy lifestyle. There is also a local pub, bowlo & bushwalks.

"A great community among some wonderful natural beauty"
I've lived in Lawson with my young family for nearly 8 years. We have felt so lucky to be raising our kids in a place where they know their neighbours' names, play safely in their street, and have a national park at their doorstep.
While it doesn't have the commercial size of Katoomba and Springwood, or the reputation of Leura, there are plenty of facilities to make it a great place to live; a great primary school and amazing community pre-school, a developed cafe and food scene, a local supermarket and chemist, a medical center and vet, a library, a skate park and quality BMX track, tennis courts, several parks, a bowls club and pub, and decent public transport.
Some of the local bushwalks are fantastic, with the falls loop and Dante's Glen particular highlights.
The hidden industrial area is convenient for some of the utility-based needs of the area as well.
During lockdown, I lost count of how many times I gave silent thanks to be located where I am; with regular masked smiles and friendly waves on my daily walk, convenient amenities that let me stay local, or even free baskets of fruit left outside neighbour's houses, my community felt safe and ample.
Lawson has plenty to offer for those willing to look.

"Friendly locals, nice little town"
We have lived here for 8 years. The population is not predominantly older retired people but a mix of all age groups - check out Census stats. Lawson has a great old recently refurbished pub, bowling club, chemist, IGA, hardware shop, newsagent, medical centre, community health centre, child care centre, famously good cake shop, library, skate park, primary school, vet, public swimming pool, florist & hairdresser. Residents will say hello or nod in passing, even if they don't know you.
Not great for
- RTA road widening disruptions
