Reviews of Midway Point, TAS
"Beautiful Area With Ugly Weather"
Extremely pretty place to live. The traffic is quite bad at current but development is well under way to fix it. A nice quiet place where everyone keeps to themselves, very relaxed feel. A fair way out of the way for services such as Uber Eats , Menu log with only Pizza and Chinese available at current. There is no real reason for anyone but locals to venture into the suburb which gives it its quiet relaxed feel. If you want a quiet lazy Sunday feel then this is the place to be. The exception to this is the weather, Midway Point suffers from extreme weather and winds. The trees on the lagoon shores are slanted for a reason as the wind roars through quite often, Don't leave loose items in your yard or they will be blown down the street along with the bin you left out on a Monday night ; )

"Best kept secret."
No place in Hobart like Midway point.
Very central location, 16 min to city, 5 min to airport
5 minutes to supermarkets, on the mail touring routes to all major attractions.
Surrounded by waterways.
Peace and quiet.
Love it.

"Nice and quiet"
We have lived in Midway Point for 4 years after moving from Qld. 25 minutes to Hobart city centre no traffic lights until the Tasman Bridge and 110kph most of the way. Close to airport but very little noise (not many planes fly over here). 2 minutes to major shopping centres at Sorell (woollies and Coles bakers schools doctors dentists etc). Good place for children.
Great for
- Handy to everything shops and services
- Easy access to Hobart and surrounding area
- Friendly people
- Water views
- Quiet and relaxing
Not great for

"A Beautiful, Well Kept Secret, And Only 20mins From Hobart"
I've been living at Midway Point for over two years now and i have to say i love the place. Moving from Bellerive my main concerns were the distance to town, and the lack of retail in the area. I must say the distance has not been a problem at all, i get to my job in the city in 20 mins on most days, but on the odd ocasion 30 mins due to heavy traffic which is almost never! Retail outlets are also closer than i had thought with Sorell 5 mins one way and Cambridge Park 5 mins the other. Sorell is a rapidly growing town and you can get most of what you need there, and Cambridge Park has any thing else you need, from Harvey Norman outlets to Anaconda or Mitre 10 they pretty much have it covered. Not to mention the DFO that is soon to be built at the airport, we feel spoilt for options! Our house is on a large block with views of both Mt Wellington and the beautiful Pitwater lagoon, as most houses in Midway Point do. For someone who needs to work in the city but would like to come home to a peacfull and quiet area with stunning views Midway Point is the place for you. My partner commented just after we had moved down that she felt like she was coming home to holiday house, as it is such a relaxing place and the poeple are so friendly. Public transport in the area isn't great but from experience in our old place, having a bus stop in front of your house often attracts trouble so this was no concern of ours. I have read in a previous review that hooning was a problem in the area, i think this happens no matter where you live but recently it hasn't been a problem at all. So to sum up, i love kayaking in the lagoon, walking the streets with my partner for exercise and a bit of gardening which is great due to the large block sizes in the area. It suits us perfectly and we love our little secret!

"To be honest..."
We left Midway Point a few years ago, the hooning was a major problem and we had the most inconsiderate neighbours...I hope it has changed since then. It is a shame because it is a nice area with the water views. I probably wouldn't recommend it unless you are young and don't mind the noisy cars/parties etc
Hi John44, my husband and I are considering moving to Midway Point with our two young children and two dogs. We currently have problems with neighbours partying and hooning on trailbikes where we are in Blackmans Bay, so would be keen to avoid this again. May I ask which area of Midway Point you lived in? Was it a widespread problem or just your immediate neighbours? I'd be grateful for any advice you can offer. Thanks
Lived there only 12 months left as the place is one big dog walking trail
I love dogs but don't enjoy picking up other people's dog Poos up to a dozen twice a day. Very inconsiderate people . Dogs start barking at 5 am and continue till 10 at night. No-one seems to care if emergency workers get any sleep or not. A 15 minute trip to Hobart can take up to 30 minutes during the week . Traffic is bottlenecked all the way to the airport . Helicopters do night training over the suburb . It is not a very relaxing place to live . Mostly just an overnight stop for commuters.
House prices are ridiculously high.
If you're still there, and still kayaking in the lagoon, let me know here and I'll get in touch! about to move down to Midway, with our 'yaks and want to do a bit of this myself, would be great to meat somone else who is keen, and already knows their way around!...
