Reviews of Mount Isa City, QLD
"A fantastic place to get started in life"
We come to Mount Isa 6 years ago and had intended staying for a couple at most. We have made great friends and from our very first day everyone has been friendly and very helpful. Living hear has enabled us to get on our feet financially. The kids are excelling at school of which there are many to choose from. There is so much to do and see. If you are thinking about coming here then do it, you will not be disappointed.
Great for
- Friendly
- Lots of things to do and see.
- Great schools
- Great job opportunities
- Small community
Not great for
- Excessive flight costs
- The suburb of Pioneer should be steered well away from.

"A great place to earn money... if you can afford to live here!"
Mount Isa is a nice place to live and raise a family but the real estate prices are ridiculous. The rent is even worse so unless both parents are working at the mines I don't really see any point in them moving here, the extra money earned at the mines is spent on the cost of living basically.
Great for
- Small community
- Great job opportunities
Not great for
- The suburb of Pioneer should be steered well away from.
- Alot of the buildings are very old.

"Good place to buy, too expensive to rent"
With rentals for 3-4 bed hitting over $600/week this is a perfect place to buy that investment home. Prices for houses are not that expensive comparitively and everything is very close. There is the nearby Lake Moondara to go skiing on and heaps of areas to camp surrounding the town. There has been lots of development in the town centre so choice to eat out large. It is not at all like what had been written on 11/1/11.
Great for
- Everything is close
- Lots of free activities eg waterpark, skate park
- Good sense of community
Not great for
- Roads out of town may be seasonally cut
- No huge shopping centre - some choices limited
- High price to fly out of

"The Isa - Mount Isa - Mt Isa"
Mount Isa is a mining town, one of the largest producers of both lead and silver, in the Western world. It is also home to a large Rodeo, held in August.
They have surface and underground mining tours, or for more fun head to Lake Moondarra, which is a boating lake.
Lots of good pubs which have live bands playing
