Reviews of Ocean Grove, VIC
"Awesome Community, clean air"
Favourite cafes include Driftwood for the best breakfast and coffee, The Chicken Shop sometimes plays host to my favourite band on a Saturday night. The Big Bash Band absolutely rocks this daytime chicken shop where people of all ages rock the night away, it’s a real vibe. The Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club runs a great Nippers program for children and the surf is always calling. The Ocean beach is truly spectacular. Join the Iceburgers or Yummy Mummies for an early morning swim at RAFS Beach Ocean Grove followed by a coffee at one of the local cafes

"Not only for the rich"
Reading the reviews I think people who have visited my town of Ocean Grove must have been here during the two weeks of summer when it's super busy, and only walked around Dare or Orton streets or near the surf club.
You can buy a house with good bones walking distance (read 10 minutes) to the beach, quite cheaply, supermarkets have the same prices as everywhere else, so do the takeaways and cafes. Petrol is generally cheaper than Melbourne, and if you get to know the locals you can find cheap mates rates tradies to help you out.
I moved here 6 years ago and have never been happier. Don't base your view on the two busy weeks over Christmas when the big towners rent holiday accomodation near the main drag.
"Growing Town Great For Families"
Ocean Grove once upon a time was for retiree's. How that has changed. It is a vibrant growing town where the population is exploding. Housing is going up everywhere. There are 2 shopping centers which is fantastic because during the holiday periods, Ocean Grove's population almost triples. If you want the quiet life, Ocean Grove is NOT for you. With expanding highways, subdividing of farmland to make way for more homes, Ocean Grove will become a tourist city rather than what it is today. Schools are fantastic in this area with 3 primary schools but only the one high school. Upon attaining year 9, students will have to bus to Drysdale to complete their schooling, which is a downside.

"bit expensive"
Fantastic town but if you are after a family environment with kids this is not the area for you unless you are prepared to pay for a expensive lifestyle for them to fit into the other young yuppy crouds in their Mercedes's and BMW's and prada bags.

"Great Family orientated community"
Ocean Grove represents a vibrant down to earth costal community. We are finding it an ideal place to raise our kids. There are plenty of schools and fantastic facilities throughout the town. The town is well serviced by the major supermarkets and Melbourne is only just over an hour away. I commute to the CBD for work and find public transport from Geelong to be excellent.
Summer gets very busy with the towns population swelling substantially, this is part of the towns seasonal charm. During the cooler months the "local" feel returns and you feel like you have time to breath. As per previous comments the BMW and Mercedes "Yuppy" set only seem to turn up with the peak tourist season. We find these comments not representative of Ocean Groves true nature.

"The WOW! factor and the $multi million dollar$ price tag"
If you have money then Ocean Grove is a beautiful Coastal suburb with mansions from 1.5 million to 10+ million dollar homes positioned on the coast. Ocean Grove is amazing i just wish i had enough money to live here and afford a mega yacht and a Ferrari and I would fit in fine!

Also, never been a house sell for $10 million that I know of. You must have only walked around the 'rich' area.
"Full of Yuppies and their expensive Toys"
Fantastic town but if you are after a family environment with kids this is not the area for you unless you are prepared to pay for a expensive lifestyle for them to fit into the other young yuppy teenagers in their convertible Mercedes's and BMW's

This does not fit with the lifestyle of Ocean Grove for the other 10 months of the year. During Summer the feel most certainly changes. Try coming here in the winter and you can have the beach to yourself. Dogs run free on the sand and locals greet one another with a smile, cheery hello and the quiet knowledge that this is our home 12 months of the year! Peak season in any tourist destination changes the "local" feel that presides off peak.
"A great place to live for profesional career drivin people with lots of money"
The OG is a exclusive suburb in Victoria a great place for those with the typical lifestyle with a double income, no kids and two BMW's

Ocean Grove is set on the south coast of victoria about 1 1/2 hours from Melbourne, This beautiful and vibrant town has the whole package when deciding where to live. From boutique designer stores in the main street and quality cafe's and restaurants right at your door step.
Beaches on one side and the Barwon river on the other, and 90% of homes in Ocean Grove with river or coastal views
If you don't mind the heavy price tag of most homes within Ocean Grove then this is the town for you.

"A great family destination"
Ocean Grove is not only a stunning coastal town, it is also a great place to take your family for a holiday. Kids will love the popular timber mazes and mini golf course just out of the town as well as Adventure Park which has heaps of water slides and other fun in the water. Being the largest city outside of Geelong on the Bellarine Peninsula, Ocean Grove has everything you need while on holidays. There are also heaps of places to eat and some great bushwalks.

Nowhere to launch a mega yacht it's a surf beach with a shallow estuary,I think you are confusing it with Noosa.
Maybe a surf board, or surf ski. Excellent sporting clubs, amazing Surf Life Saving's Club.
Most of us drive older cars, and are retired, singles, families, lots of tradies, on ordinary incomes pensions etc.
Affordable housing, excellent medical, dentist etc schools, lots of infrastructure, a shining light
in the City of Greater Geelong on the Bellarine Peninsula.
But we do have the best and most attractive beach.
