"Another unhappy resident"

Should have read about the reviews of Ormeau, Halfway Drive in Norfolk Village in particular before we decided to rent a place here. Big mistake! Noisy street and barking dogs! House is so old that there are much problems arise after we moved in. Any rental more than $500 is a rip off here!

"Not perfect."

We are renting at Norfolk village, Halfway Drive. Had to move as our last landlord sold our place at Jacabs Ridge 3 years ago. Heaps of issues since day 1. The whole street is full of noisy barking dogs and wanker drivers! The house is so old and we're constantly finding broken tiles. We visited our neighbour who are also renting, found out that theirs is no better than ours. Seems like renting in Norfolk Village is at your own risk!

"Perfect for family, retirees, professionals!"

Such a nice suburb with friendly people and good kids. Good public schools and heaps of private schools around.

Ormeau Hill and Ridge are the newer areas which we much prefer. Houses are newer and modern, however, land is tiny. Houses in Norfolk village are heaps older, and I meant heaps heaps older. OK to rent but expects bursting pipes and old dated houses with interior problems which you won't know until you moved in. The plus point with Norfolk is most houses are on big land.

"Depends on which part you're at."

We've been living in Norfolk village, Ormeau for 3.5 years now and loving it here. However, it depends on which street you're at. We used to live in Katunga circuit, on a near 45deg slope and we absolutely hate it! Very often, you see dogs roaming around and our dog was attacked by one right in front of our front yard. Coppers and council van turned up at the house across the street very often. Anyway, it doesn't deter us from moving away from Norfolk because when our trailer was stolen, neighbours offer assistance, asking us if we need video footage as they have camera installed at the front of the house. We moved away from the circuit to our current place which is on a main road. Surprisingly, it wasn't noisy at all even during school traffic! The great community keep us here.

"Welcome to Ormeau!"

Ormeau is literally a hidden gem. Well, probably not that hidden anymore. We have lived here for 8+ years and brought up our two little kids and we could not have had aspired for a better place. We have seen this place grow. It has now got everything. Multiple shopping centres, childcares, parks, doctors, dentists, vet, restaurants, skate park - you name it, Ormeau's got it. It has got it's own country fairs and christmas carols, free open air movie nights and heaps of other community activities. It is so much fun to live in here - we love it!
Ormeau is halfway between Brisbane and Gold Coast - so it's convenient that way. The only downside if there is to Ormeau is that if you have to travel to Brisbane city in the mornings, the traffic can be a bit of an issue. Normally it takes us 30 minutes to get to Brisbane city from where we live, but during peak hours it could take you up to 50 minutes to an hour at times.

  • Convenience with lifestyle
  • Family friendly and community spirit

"I would never live anywhere else"

I have lived in Ormeau for only a short amount of time, but my partner has lived here for 25 years. I absolutely love this place.
It is directly halfway between Gold Coast and Brisbane, and feels like you live in a country town! You are so close to the M1 but you wouldn't know it.
Buying my first home in Norfolk Village and just LOVE IT!
And I feel safe living here! :)

"Blossoming Inbetweener..."

We moved to Ormeau (Jacobs Ridge) 2yrs ago an it's fantastic. We are now in between to awesome places. The gorgeous beaches of Surfers are only 30-40mins away, as well as the nightlife for the party goer. Then heading Northerly we have beautiful bustling Brisbane, with plenty of shopping, nightlife or if you want to relax an just chill plenty of cafés, restaurants and even a perfect picnic an swimming spot at SouthBank. In our area of Ormeau, there are Plans for more shopping centers in the works, which will be fantastic as well as the established ones already here. Cafés, restaurants, fast food outlets, vets, Medical Centre's an local taverns, plus plenty more available if you go looking. Jacobs Ridge is a place for anyone to live in, it caters for all including the dogs. With secured dog parks, you can let your pet go mad. Really you have to see what is here, there is so much more, I didn't even mention the Gyms, yes I said Gyms, 2 great choices. Thinking of moving to Ormeau visit www.myormeau.com.au they even have a welcome BBQ for new comers as well as the old ones.

"Best place to live."

Ormeau is by far my favourite place to be. I have lived there for a very long time and am sad to have moved away due to work. The medical centre has gone down hill since the old receptionists have left however Dr Vijay is the best doctor you will find on the Gold Coast. Julia is also the best hairdresser on the Gold Coast (located at Norfolk). I have a lot of love for Ormeau and have attended Ormeau Woods High myself and also found that to be a wonderful school on it's good days.

"Great family area"

We've lived in the area (Norfolk) around 8 months now and have just decided to buy. Norfolk Village State School is excellent and the area has a lot of young families. House prices are affordable and on the whole the area is very safe. It feels like a rural village, with the benefits of easy access to Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
A big problem is access to broadband internet. On moving here we were told by Telstra that there were no ports available, nor could we wait list for one we just had to keep applying and hope one came available. And Ormeau doesn't appear to be on the NBN, so for a growing area, that's definitely not in the middle of nowhere the service is shocking. We have had to rely on unreliable and expensive mobile broadband, while we keep on applying to get broadband.

"Jacobs Ridge, fantastic place to bring up your family!"

We moved to Ormeau 5 years ago and have just purchased a house in Jacobs Ridge. It is a wonderful place, friendly, loads of parks and play grounds, quiet...the list goes on! The shopping centre is where everyone knows your name. A quaint village that is a place we love to call home! We love Ormeau and are happy to stay once the children have grown and move on! Can't beat it!

"Best Value around for first home buyers"

In Ormeau you have 4 Bedroom homes with ensuite, 3 living areas plus double garage properties for under $400,000. This could be the best value in Queensland.
there are another 2000 homes going in and a range of different schools to choose from plus Westfields has been approved only 10 minute drive away.
Long term this suburb will be the most sought out suburb in Qld as it is only 15 minutes to Gold Coast & 25 Minutes to Brisbane.

"The world starts and stops in Ormeau"

Ormeau is a unique place that can easily be overlooked as you can't see much from the highway, you have to come and see for yourself. It has a huge diversity of property types and lifestyles from mansions, acreage to the humble unit.
Its the people and the atmosphere that really make Ormeau special, It's still a little bit country yet only minutes from the major shopping centers. Ormeau has some of the best priced acreage in South East Queensland, great property, great location great prices when compared to the competition both North and South. The people are special here and i have always found every body to have a friendly disposition. There are so many parks, bike tracks and an abundance of sporting facilities close by, The location is second to none with its proximity to the water, hinterland, city and the coast......The world really starts and stops right here!

"Family Friendly street for young and old alike."

Good community spirit with plenty to offer. Local Norfolk State school opened 2009 with good facilities available to students. Within a short distance to the Yatala/Ormeau industrial areas for employment oppurtunities and services. Local Supermarkets Coles & IGA provide value for money without travelling to the larger shopping centres. Plenty of takeaway outlets to tempt the taste buds or dine at the local Tavern.

"Daniells Court is family friendly"

Daniells Court is a small cul-de-sac in Ormeau (in the section between the motorway and the railway line). The children feel safe enough to ride their bikes around and play in the gardens of the street.

This part of Ormeau is a short drive to the M1 and 40 mins drive straightup the Motorway to Brisbane and only 25 mins to the heart of the Gold Coast. I would suggest leaving early in the morning for a drive to Brisbane CBD as traffic gets heavy in morning peak hour, Travel in the evening after 6pm can be very quick.

There is a train station at Ormeau, however in peak hour dont expect to get a seat.. hopefully this will change as the area grows.

There is a Coles locally, otherwise the major shopping centres nearby include Helensvale Westfield (20mins drive) includes KMart, Target, Aldi etc then larger shopping centres at Robina and Loganholme (30mins drive). Close to local tourist attractions at Dreamworld and Movieworld.

Livingstone College is nearby.

Being close to the Motorway means you're only a quick drive from most places. An upcoming area which will grow to include more schools and businesses over the next 10 years.

I live in nearby Coomera, but have friends living in Daniells Court, Ormeau
