Reviews of Palmwoods, QLD
"Underwhelmed"
We were looking at suburbs to move to from interstate and visited palm woods based on these reviews. We were underwhelmed. We would still need to travel to ‘the coast’ for everything we moved here for, so we preferred to look at suburbs closer to the coast.
It had the feeling of an old shanty town.
"The perfect mix"
We moved to Palmwoods 6 months ago and absolutely love it. It is the perfect place to raise a family. We are surrounded by greenery and native birds. The village has everything you need, great cafes and restaurants, a pub, take away, hairdressers, gym and pilates studio etc. 20 minute drive to the beach, 15 minutes to Buderim and 10 minutes to Nambour.
We've lived in a few different suburbs on the Sunshine Coast since moving here 7 years ago and Palmwoods is by far our favourite. We feel so lucky to live here!

"Picturesque Palmwoods"
Beautiful hinterland atmosphere yet only 20 min drive to Maroochydore and beach. Picturesque mountain and valley views. Cute little town with all basic necessities and fantastic pub with great food and entertainment. Famous Ricks Garage and Piggyback eateries located here. Local train line that commutes to Brisbane.

"Palmwoods is small lovely and popular hinterland town."
Palmwoods is nestled in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast and is a lovely little town. It has been going through a revamp in the last few years with new estates opening up and a new shoppping is scheduled to be built in town. The railway line goes through town so rail access to Brisbane is very easy.
Palmwoods is some 45 mins drive inland from the coast and 10 mins drive from Nambour, so is quite accessible to all conveniences. The council itself has been putting in parks and doing up the town.
There are a lot of small acreage blocks in this area, some of them being farmed and some of them just grazing the family horses.
Depending on the weather Palmwoods can be quite dry and brown, or very lush in the wet season.

Hi we are thinking of buying a property in Palmwood and relocating from NZ and wondered how far away is it from Noosa please? Is there congestion driving to Noosa in the morning? thanks Kav
Hi Kav, it would probably take about 50 minutes to drive to Noosa from Palmwoods.
Most of the traffic would be going in the opposite direction (towards Brisbane), but it can be tricky actually getting out of Palmwoods onto the Bruce Highway sometimes. It really depends what time your husband would be leaving - school traffic is insane!
Palmwoods is a hidden jewel - the best location in the Sunshine Coast. I've been here now for 8 years. Being on the train line is also a bonus.
Some of the above comments by "clickwriter" are inaccurate:
(1) Palmwoods is only 20 minutes from the coast -NOT - 45 minutes.
(2) Palmwoods is NEVER dry and brown - it's always green here and rain a bit throughout the year to keep it green. An oval might go brownish if no rain for 2 or 3 weeks but that's all.
It is only 18 minutes drive to Sunshine Plaza, Maroochydore and less that 10 minutes to Nambour and Montville on top of the range with beautiful views of the entire Sunny Coast. Most places can be travelled to in 20 minutes.
Palmwoods has everything in the way of shops, doctors etc really, and I really like the beautiful scenic backdrop of the Blackall Range and all the wonderful places to walk. The best place to live is near the centre of town, near the ovals, pool and tennis courts. So close to school too.
I would certainly recommend Palmwoods as it does not have the noise, crime and hassles of living near the beach. There are some lovely new estates here too. Of all the hinterland town, Palmwoods is clearly the best.
