"Fantastic location"

I’ve lived in many places including resorts and thoroughly enjoy living at South Coogee

Find your haven in South Coogee! This beachside paradise offers a tranquil setting, convenient public transport and proximity to the motorway for easy travel. Revel in the stunning ocean views and the unique charm of Wedding Cake Island. The predominantly mature neighborhood ensures a peaceful living environment. Experience the vibrant cafe culture and take advantage of South Coogee's secluded swimming hole for an unforgettable summer lifestyle. South Coogee is an underrated gem, favored by families and those seeking a peaceful alternative to Bondi. The highly regarded international French school is nearby, and shopping at Maroubra Junction and Westfield East Gardens is just a short trip away.

Dont be put off by the social housing that helps the area not be over run with traffic as many residents do not own a car or drive. This also assists the public transport which is very reliable.

Easy trip to airport

Beach side living at its best!

Short stroll to Coogee to enjoy the incredible cafes, restaurants and pubs.

Looking for a home in South Coogee?

"Rough"

South Coogee essentially has no identity, and is mainly just Coogee under another name.

South Coogee is only distinctly known for having two Department of Housing estates largely considered some of the most neglected in the country, many elderly but a large proportion of bad tenants, on drugs, deadbeat parents living in mouldy flats with their kids, many of the windows smashed and not repaired for months, drug dealing and often street brawls. Stay out of the vicinity of this area, and look at Coogee reviews to see what the rest of the area is like.

"Great place to live"

South Coogee is a great place to live, it has great transport options and is central to many great places such as maroubra and coogee beaches, shopping centres, the pow hospital, the coastal walk, many childcare options etc. I find living in south Coogee that I have everything I need within 10kms. peaceful neighbourhood even though I live on Malabar Road. Love it.

"South Coogee"

South Coogee is a residential suburb of Sydney, situated 9 kilometres south east of the CBD in the local government area of the City of Randwick and part of the Eastern Suburbs. It is bounded by Coogee to the north, the Pacific Ocean to the east, Kingsford to the west and Maroubra to the south. It has a population of about 5,200 20% of which are under 18 and 21.5% of whom are over 60.

A high percentage of the population (nearly 50%) are renting. A large proportion of the housing in South Coogee is public housing flats that were constructed in the 1950’s and 60’s. There is an aged care facility in the suburb. There are still large areas of open space. However, it is predicted that there will be low or negative population growth in the future.

There is no big commercial area but there are a few local shops for the residents. A reasonably efficient bus service is available to take residents to the city and bigger surrounding commercial centres.

South Coogee Primary School is located in the suburb while older children need to travel to attend high school.

South Coogee is probably not one of the better Eastern Suburbs.

I totally disagree Yes there is public housing but this is confined in 2 streets so it is not a large proportion. It is a peaceful suburb which considering is a couple of minutes from either Coogee Beach or Maroubra Beach is awesome in summer. Wide streets, ocean walk, many parks, minimal congestion, for an ocean side suburb in Sydney where can you find that? A lovely place for families. I have lived in Concord, Leichardt, Lilyfield & Glebe and can say Sth Coogee is bliss.

I wonder what do you mean with negative grow. All i see around this area is relaxation. It is a great area compare to many like Bondi surroundings. is quite and the birds bless you in the morning no the sound of cars horns and traffic and has lot of green areas. I love to be living here.

MozZ 21% of houses in the suburb are social housing, and is home to 2 large estates, largely considered some of the most neglected in the city

Realdeal

The social housing is definite a plus to the area as the streets have lots of parking and not much car traffic as most who reside in these estates do not own cars so it is a positive. The social housing area is also located away from the beach and expensive houses.
