Reviews of Thurgoona, NSW
"Thurgoona the best place to live"
I have been living in Thurgoona for more than a year now. It is a great place to be. There is a real community feeling around, people are friendly and welcoming. There are not many places in NSW left where you can leave your windows open at night and walk safely in the bush at dusk. I explore the local walking trails with my dog every day. On my walks I look around and enjoy the beauty of distant mountain landscapes and vivid colours of bush-gardens, tranquility of green paddocks with cows grazing and birds chirping and moving around.
It is a country life with a very easy and fast drive to Albury's major shopping, eating and cultural centers. Five minutes to Harris Farm, major indoor food market offering anything from the best deli products to fresh seafood, cafes and winery, only minutes to local shopping center with the best supplied Woolworth in Albury. I moved here from a beautiful and cold place in the Snowy Mountains. I also have an experience of living in the"big smoke" as I spent 24 years in Sydney. I consider Thurgoona to have it all : the beauty and friendliness of a country town and access to services, entertainment and shopping on the same level as big urban centers provide.
Furthermore, Thurgoona has a great selection of old and new housing, the latter in good supply. There are great quality houses here, with modern insulation, easy and efficient heating and cooling systems. I own such a house and enjoy all four distinctive seasons of the year equally.
Thurgoona is a great place for families. There is a good pool of schools, colleges and university within a close proximity of each other. Most importantly, the tight- knit communities provide this unique feeling of safety and belonging, without clusters of social disadvantage. What more would you wish for?

"Safe and tranquil suburb for young families"
Thurgoona is a fantastic location for young families with a mixture of new housing estates for new builds and existing estates developed in the 80s and 90s. The suburb is very safe and offers a peaceful lifestyle on large suburban blocks, surrounded by pockets of native vegetation. It has lots of local amenity, including the Charles Sturt University campus, multiple childcare, primary and secondary school options, ample open space and sporting fields, including football grounds, the Thurgoona Golf Club and Thurgoona Tennis Club. For boating and water skiing enthusiasts, Lake Hume is only a 10 minute drive away. For essential shopping, there is Thurgoona plaza which has all the essentials like a Woolworths supermarket, bank branch, bakery, butcher, pharmacy and gym. For wider shopping choices, its just a 10 minute drive into the Albury CBD. Thurgoona is the growth corridor of Albury and should continue to grow a wider range of shopping and commercial spaces as the suburb expands over the next decade.

"Great place, good people, going ahead"
best spot to live in albury, highway is only a short drive away to get to albury itself is only a 5 min drive, lavington again is only 5 minutes, but why go into either, new shopping centre offers a woolworths, chemist, bakery, newsagent, buther, pizza shop, thai, indian, chicken, fish and chips. CSU have relocated here so matched with the two primary schools and 1 secondary school education is covered. the local golf club offers more variety again for meals, gaming, accomodation or a beer then there is the kinross hotel which offers great dining, great beer, great entertainment in a safe environment away from the ferrals of dean st. short drive to the wier, airport and train station. footy field, cricket field, netball and golf covers most bases. Thurgoona - got it all!
