"Great for families, it's well planned..."
It's a new suburb that is still growing, very well planned specifically the estates north of Leakes road, very well connected to the city 25min drive. Nice communities, people are friendly and feels safe. Plenty of parks, sports ovals, and cycling paths. Shops and retail within 10 minutes drive. It ticks all the boxes...

"An excellent area in the west of Melbourne"
I have been fortunate enough to live and work in Truganina for over 10 years. In this time I have watched the area grow and also have see all the development that has attracted so many people to this growing suburb. Truganina has so much to offer and is perfect for a range of demographic needs. The suburb caters for families, professionals, couples, retires and has facilities for every ones needs.
Lots of schools, restaurants, transport, parks and life style resorts available. It still has a lot of room for growth and is perfectly located with easy access to inbound and outbound freeways. Also has easy access to beautiful beaches, shopping centre making it an ideal suburb to live in. There is no other suburb in the best of Melbourne that can offer you so much variety and comforts. You will definitely want to find your nest home here.

""Beautiful booming suburb for professionals- just needs a few more things..""
Have been living in the area for about 2 years now and I am loving it! Neighbours are friendly and there's a great sense of family and lifestyle. Go for walks and there's always a warm and friendly "Hello" to put a smile on your face. Young families as well as retirees are aplenty and great mix of cultural diversity in the area. There's a good shopping centre in Point Cook Town Centre. The Caroline springs shopping centre renovations are currently making strides and looking good but will have shops that are already found in the Town Centre (Coles & Aldi). There will be a Kmart but here's hoping its a 24hr one. Still, if developers and retail giants are pouring more money into the area, it must be a good thing! The beach is close by and the coastal park with native birds and migratory birds makes it a nature lover's paradise. It's like a great weekend getaway without spending hours in the car and all the open space and fresh air does wonders for the tired soul.
Of course, there are some cons and the main cons include:
1) Main issue is course the peak hour traffic! It's a nightmare driving into the CBD or out of the area in the mornings and there really needs to be wider and more road options.
2) A real lack of public transport. Buses don't cover all the estates and are too few and irregular to make it worth taking and relying on them as your main transport.
3) There is next to nothing to do at night. Hope the area will have a multiplex cinema soon!
4) Restaurants are mainly found in the Town Centre with diverse cuisines (Indian+Greek+Mediterranean + new Night bars+ nice cafes for breakfast bite) to choose from and one of the finest I would say.
Despite the few cons which admittedly wont be there for long, as a resident and owner, I think the Pros easily outweigh the cons and potential for growth (physical and land value) in Truganina will be huge. It's only 25km from the CBD and the value of houses are still affordable. Once the area gets more built up and get the infrastructure and services in place, it really will be a slice of country, coast and city heaven.

"Projected to be a Goldmine"
We have recently moved to this suburb. First we were renting and then a bought a house as it is so easy to commute to CBD and the public transport is fantastic. New developments are taking place specially around Mt Atkinson and Olivia estate. There is proposed station on the Victorian planning association website for Mt Atkisnon and new Westfield shopping center. House owners are sitting on the goldmine and the property prices are going to shoot up in next 2 to 3 years.

""Beautiful, friendly and safe suburb. Perfect for families or people seeking peace and quiet.""
Close enough to the city to be convenient, far enough away to get out from the hustle and bustle of closer suburbs. Truganina is a safe and friendly suburb with a lot of grocery shopping and heaps of great restaurant options. There is a nightlife in terms of eating out, but if you want entertainment or clubs/bars etc this is not place for you. The parklands are beautiful and the area attracts a lot of wealthy families and elderly people. Great community spirit, often have Christmas get together s for our streets and neighbors always waving hello/goodbye etc. It is an expensive suburb when compared with South eastern suburbs or northern suburbs etc, but well worth it in our opinion. There are few gym options like F45's and Tarniet and Rockbank state of the art sporting clubs. Many many medical facilities with dental centers, psychologists, physios and doctors throughout and surrounding the junction area. Very safe, been living here for 1.5 years and haven't felt unsafe at any point walking the streets at night etc. All in all would highly recommend Truganina. Get off street parking if you can though, since you do need a residential parking permit for central streets.
""Inner City Lifestyle in the Suburbs""
I work at Barwon health in Geelong and we moved to Truganina because we built our first new home in Victoria almost 2 years ago and so far we are very happy with the development that is happening around us. This suburb is very popular for growing families, there are many younger couples , and singles that also like living here. This suburb provides a family friendly vibe giving a vibrant lifestyle at your door step. Complemented with great facilities like parks, wetlands, walking & bike tracks, great schools, cafes and a thriving shopping precinct. The two hotels provide some excellent dining and entertainment options. Truganina has a diversity of housing from the heritage styled town cottage to the contemporary modern homes and townhouses.
With its sense of community and large range of facilities, it is hard not to like.

"Nicest Suburb in the West a highly sought out Suburb in the West Melbourne"
I have been living in Truganina for 2 years. I purchased my first house here and previously lived in the Eastern suburbs. I initially had reservations moving to the West, but TR has a fantastic vibe to it and I have absolutely no regrets moving here.
Facilities
The suburb has some beautiful areas for walking and cycling, which I love the most about the area. The lake near the shopping centre is popular with the locals, however there seems to be a growing number of birds to the point there are literally hundreds sitting in the lake and the water quality often looks questionable. I dont think I would want to live around the lake due to noise and bird poop, but it is a really nice area to walk around on weekends. The library is also nearby. Unfortunately theres no swimming pool in CS.
Food
There are some great food places too such as WestWaters, Caroline Thai, Slices, Notorious Burgers, Red Beetle and Blue Marlin as well as a number of food chains in and around the shopping centre. While the food is great, I wouldnt classify any of these places as trendy so for something fancier you would have to travel to Yarraville or Williamstown.
Travel
I work in the city and it takes me less than 40 mins door to door to travel by public transport. I think it is best to live near the corner of Rockbank Middle Rd and Caroline Springs Blvd so that you have options to take the 456 bus to to new Rockbank station. Really handy when there are issues with either the VLine or Sunbury line as you can then just jump on the other. The bus from Truganina station also matches the train schedule which is handy. Houses in this area can also take advantage of Westwood Dr which is less busy than Tarneit Blvd although this may change when they finish the road extension.
Safety
In terms of safety, I know of a one or two break-ins in last year but I also know people who have had this happen to them in the Eastern suburbs. Sad truth is that this is happening everywhere in Melbourne. There are some nights you can hear hoons driving around which can be irritating but that can happen anywhere. Police station is not currently 24hrs.

""Multicultural hotspot without inner-city congestion and crowding""
I've read a couple of reviews here warning of "brown people" and "yellow race" in the Western suburbs area. OK, so if that's really what keeps you up at night, then western suburbs are not for you. The truth is, Truganina is pretty awesome. Not only has it got to be one of the most affordable places this close to the city to set up, whether buying or renting; because it's got a middle suburb vibe you don't get the claustrophobic, congested feeling of inner suburbs. Nonetheless it has many of the advantages of an inner suburb. Excellent public transport - a massive bus interchange at the train station. The train takes only 25-30 minutes to get to the city. There's a great multicutural vibe happening, with old school migrants from Europe and Vietnam and lots of new migrants to. This means the high street has a great selection of cafes and restaurants including many Vietnamese spots as well as Indian, Afghan, Ethiopian and your typical Aussie eateries if you're not feeling adventurous. People come from all over Melbourne to try the food. The town center has undergone regeneration recently with new streetscaping, a new library and council chambers, new pool and leisure center. Please Ignore and rubbish the decade out of date rumors about crime, violence and seediness. It's just not true. I've lived in Truganina with my wife for almost 4 years and other south eastern suburbs like Clyde, officer and Pakenham are much seedier and crime-ridden than any western suburbs. Truganina is bound to become the next destination for home buyers once Footscray and Caroline Springs become un-affordable.

"Abode for growth and amenities"
An amazing sojourn close to freeway, shopping center, own railway station and all amenities available at a fraction of price compared to big boys suburbs. Excellent place to live. Love the parks in the neighborhood and town is in progress and good quality eateries. Medical centers with everything you need.
People complaining about peak hour traffic need to take a look at nearby point cook where it takes my girl friend 40 mins each day just to get to the freeway or the train station at Williams landing. Current congestion attributed to the roadworks which will get better.
I especially love the freeway access in minutes going either direction.

"West's Toorak which can boost your lifestyle"
This is probably the best suburb around MELBOURNE specially if both you and your partner / wife work In CBD. I live near the new Rockbank train station and walk to the station every morning (no need to find a car park in the morning). Train station, freeway entrance, Woolworth , cafes, Indian/Asian Supermarket , seven eleven, coles express all are about 2 mins drive from my house.
I hardly see any traffic. It takes only 25 minutes to reach to southern cross.
I find the suburb very safe and friendly.
Anywhere else You cant have a brand new 4-5 bedroom house with all this being only 25 kms from CBD. I am very happy being in this part of the Melbourne. Leafy eastern suburbs are nice but I never wanted to downsize living in an old house and didnt want to travel to 40-50 kms every day to work from suburbs like Clyde, officer or far country towns like Pakenham.
Schools are coming and getting better but area has some really great private schools including Westbourne Grammer School. I highly recommend this suburb.

Hi Peter,
Is it worth to invest in this suburb as a first home buyer?
Hello Selena,
My daughter has invested in boutique estate Olivia which is on griegs road and she is planning to build her first home in Victoria. We find Truganina as an abode for growth and amenities. This suburb will probably be the best in next 2 - 3 years, with lots of projects already underway like primary and secondary schools, train stations and Westfield's shopping center. If you are thinking of investing in this suburb than have no doubts that you are investing in the right place and most importantly at the right time. in next 5 years you will make a good equity if you invest here.
Hi Peter,
Is Truganina a good suburb in west Melbourne? As first home buyers we are a bit indecisive between western suburbs or South east like Clyde or far hour away suburbs like officer/Pakenham.
Mick I would suggest to invest in West as the suburbs here are between 25- 30 kms from CBD. These suburbs have a lot of future prospects when it comes to equity on investment and facilities for future living. Clyde, officer or Pakenham are suburbs essentially for 2nd home buyers or investors who are not keen on living there themselves. If you are young professional and travel to CBD for work than you have to stay within 30 Kms radius and Truganina like other western suburbs is more planned, not over crowded, nice touch of multicultural people living, good community spirit, green parks for kids and few dog parks already, streets are wide for 2 cars parked opposite to each other, nice schools and its own Westfield's Shopping center coming soon.
Truganina is the most fast paced growing suburb of the west Melbourne which is only 25 Km's from CBD. I love living in this suburb with open spaces, park lands and nice eat outs with easy access to city with public transport
"Epitome of growth and Friendly suburb"
I've proudly lived in Mount Cottrell, Truganina for over 9 years with my husband and two children. It is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. There's a real spirit and vibrancy in the community with many local events for residents to come together. As a family, we particularly enjoy living by the creek with the kids always getting a kick out of the natural wildlife. Also, with the good views, offering a range of cafes, restaurants and shops all close by makes everything so easy and convenient. We've never experience any crime and always felt comfortable and safe in our surrounds. With young children, schools were also a important consideration when we moved here. Fortunately, Truganina boasts a number of excellent schools to choose from. Additionally, we've always had no trouble getting in and out of Truganina with easy access to Western freeway and M1 Freeway.
Prices has been going up steadily over the last years, and seems to keep going up as the properties here are in increasing demand, evident by the interest of younger people moving in.
This will be an up and coming suburb for time to come I reckon, great place!
In short, I couldn't recommend Truganina more highly to anyone looking to move to the west of Melbourne.

"True community suburb for professionals and young families."
We moved to Truganina just over a year now and we are happy with no regrets. Coming from inner south eastern suburbs our friends and family complain west is too far but it really isn't that bad. My wife works in the city and take the train everyday. It only takes half an hour on the train and a total of 45 min door to door from home to work. We are living within walking distance to local shopping square, library, lake, schools. Everything All our daily needs are within 5mins drive.
We love living here and it really feels like home to us. Community groups are always organizing family friendly events here and you really get a sense of community here. Beauty is the different cultural population our neighbors and the whole community is helpful and security in these suburbs is good as everyone is watching each others back and People who live here are here to stay, my neighbors have all built their homes and have been here for 7+yrs.

"Absolutely Perfect"
Truganina is an amazing part of Victoria. It is beautifully positioned to be close to the upcoming shopping precincts and lifestyle , with the added upside of being only minutes from the CBD. Unlike the east ( Ashwood and further down like officers and pakenham) you do feel like you really are in a beautiful, resort type getaway, and with the train running direct in to the city, you can be in the city in a matter of minutes. It has become a desired destination and really is an amazing upmarket part that you would be lucky to be able to live in. People have cottoned on to its amazing offerings with house prices soaring, but if I had the chance to live there I definitely would!

"Great developing neighborhood for families"
Truganina has risen from bare paddocks in less than 10 years to become the largest development area in Victoria. When we moved from Melbourne to west, we decided that this was the best option for us for anywhere between Melbourne and Geelong. So here you get the best compromise on price vs location, with some of the cheaper house prices (for renting and buying) in western suburbs, for a neighborhood that isn't considered rough. Considering that up the road in
You're also only a 10mins drive from other developing suburbs and V-line stations, which take you to the city in 20-25 mins on comfy trains w/ toilets. Not too bad, makes day trips long but very much viable, even possible to go out in the city and get a night train/coach back here. Parking is usually ok too. Uber and other ride shares come this way too. Best of all, you're only 10mins from major shopping centres until the suburb comes with its own westfield in next few years which is just great.outdoor things (cycling, mountain biking, hiking, etc) are all not far way either in the Otways, You Yangs and Gt Ocean Road. So good spot for outdoorsy ppl, and you can be in the countryside in minutes (or even see it from the estate!).
Theres three primary schools open in the immediate area for 2020, two new ones being built and a new public high school being built. There iss also a private girls school being built in Rockbank plus other private high schools nearby that are rated well.
Also for shopping, the local Woolies, 2 liquor stores, pharmacy, doctors, cafes, etc, is within the estate, and Tarniet is 10mins away with everything under the sun, a huge Bunnings, JB-Hi Fi, Harvey Norman, multiples servos, supermarkets, furniture stores, etc. Theres a new Turganina shopping centre going up 5 mins away, which will open mid-2021/22 and gradually expand over the years. The ultimate plan is to have a train station there with (potential) high-speed services to Melbourne. There will also be a large commercial area, swimming pool centre, fire station and much more. Once that happens, house prices will shoot up in this area and this will be a hugely desirable place to live, given the proximity to the city ans Geelong.
However on the upside, getting to the freeway is a bit roundabout but generally without too much traffic, which is a huge plus. Having an already built dual carriageway (surf coast hwy) also is a big plus, for those that live close to it., unlike other new estates where thousands of houses are accessed by a single carriageway road.
All the houses are nice and new, power lines are buried underground and everything looks pretty good, so for that reason it beats the older, weatherboard houses in other parts of northern suburbs. Well-insulated too. One downside is the blocks are quite small, and seeing how far away you are from everything, you really are right on top of your neighbors and all their sounds/smells, much more so than house dwellers in Melbourne. Think the developers made some considerable coin of that...
However all that said, its got a great ambiance, people say hi on the streets and there is some nice community events. Overall, recommended, particularly for families, if you can figure out your commute well enough.

"Melbourne west best kept secret"
As a working professional with a large family,I lived in Pakenham for 7 years, Berwick for 4 and now in turganina for 2. I would have to say hands down Turganina is the best place I've lived in Melbourne.
Turganina has the lowest crime rate amongst the 3 of those suburbs, and in my own opinion is by far the nicest place to live. There is a fantastic community spirit, it has an amazing location with trains close by (unlike most of Pakenham and all of Berwick) and if you are lucky enough to live need Gardiners Creek trail, its like living in the bush but only 14kms from the city. In Pakenham/ Berwick, the 'community' is very snobbish and tends to live behind their iron gates. The first month we moved to Turganina, we were invited to a street party, a Christmas street bbq and a NYE party. There was nothing like this in Pakenham or Berwick despite living there for many more years.
Turganina is often an unheard of suburb despite being close to the city. With the very expensive suburbs of Glen Waverley / Mount Waverley on one side, and Glen Iris / East Malvern / Ashburton on the other, I simply can't think of a better 'value' suburb. Yes, house prices have risen a lot recently because of this, but you can still buy a 800sqm block for around $1.4m. This is unheard of in those other suburbs I mention.
This is a very green, family friendly, safe suburb to live in. Turganina High has also recently had major $5m spending upgrades and a new Principal who previously transformed Sunbury College. Many parents now opt to send their kids to the local high school instead of private schools.
Its clear quite a few people are 'waking up' to this small pocket of a suburb, based simply on the number of new houses being built on the generous blocks. Hopefully not too many people get clued into what a great hidden suburb this is, to keep it the way it is.

Why were you staying in a place for 2.5 years regretting every single minute of it? Were you imprisoned? Surely, you could have moved out earlier.
Very negative opinion indeed without any reference or evidence to the remarks. We moved in here recently and are just loving this place.
"Good place to live"
We moved in to Truganina in 2017 and the development is extraordinary. Duplicating Leaks road is happening and will resolve the traffic issue here. Many schools and childcare centres around and also future Truganina train station will make this area great to live.

"Best Investment/Residential property"
My comments may get lost right in middle of so many mixed views, but still I will try to summarize my experience. When I was looking for land to build property around Melbourne, I shortlisted far of south-east (Clyde, Officer etc.,), Northern suburb i.e., Wollert and West which is Truganina. Finally I settled with Truganina for below reasons:
a. We have 24 hours in a day. 8 hours of work, 8 hours of sleep and remaining 8 hours for ourself and family. Among the 8 hours which we we have for family, I really don't wanted to spend 4 hours in just traveling in train by buying property in Clyde etc., where it takes soo long to commute.
b. When I asked around some old-timers staying in South eastern suburbs, they said that they never expected the property price grow up. Which means one or the other day the property prices of Western suburbs will go up and there will be quality of living for sure.
c. I enquired PTV about increasing the transport (You can do it too, Just send a general enquiry, they will reply promptly with valid data). They confirmed about proposed train station and it will happen soon. They are just waiting for more passengers to increase and to accumulate more tax money from Wyndham council, which their logic sounded fair.
d. As the properties are affordable now, I see lot of beautiful houses built, which among most are double storey with beautiful facade, don't you think collection of such amazing houses one day will make an amazing looking street?
e. Yes, there are influence of house break-in and other notorious activities, but if you compare the crime statistics which is freely available in Victoria police page, it has considerably reduced. And to answer all hippo-crates who have invested in South eastern suburbs and calling Western suburb crap, know your country history.

Lived here for 2 years now and have seen the suburbs developed lots. Good sense of community, safe and quiet housing areas, a lot of shopping and business centres are being developed. "Practical location"
I lived in Point Cook for 6 years. Truganina is so much better especially because of relatively less traffic during peak hours. It does not have a town centre, however, there are a couple of shopping centres such as Wyndham Village and Williams Landing that are accessible via a short 3-5 min drive. Its even close to all the furniture stores in hoppers.

"lived in westbourne estate for 9 years."
I bought in Truganina in October 2007 for $235K . townhouse on own land 3br 2 bth 1GR . considering what been selling around me now estimate value $380-$390 K . At first there was very little to offer in the area . Point cook town Centre was land . Marquands rd was a dirt track and the rail line was just an idea. So I have seen it all . One thing I will say is when I first bought her people would say " Truganina ... where's that ? " but it is quite well known now and property prices are really moving . House across road from me sold in Sept 2015 fro $335k and now sold last week For $390k . (3 br unit .) Things have really started moving in terms of infrastructure and shops etc. I see there's a new shopping centre planned for corner of Forsythe and leakes Rd and the latest 2017 Melways shows a " proposed Truganina rail station . There are problems with all areas and I think one of the bonuses of this area is to my knowledge there is none or very little housing commission homes. Most people work in the area and I feel very safe here . There was a time when Truganina was described as one of the cheapest arears to buy in Melbourne , those days are gone and houses are regularly selling between $550 K -$700 K . I think once its all finished and all land is sold it will be a really nice area . No regrets from me buying here . I was renting in Kew before and the traffic was horrendous and trams everywhere were a pain.

"Convenient, Close to CDB, Affordable"
Pros;
Fast Takeaway for a quick feed (walking distance);
Maccas / KFC / Red Rooster
Better food choices and brunch (driving distance 5-10 mins);
Point Cook Town Centre, Williams landing shopping centre, Wyndam village, Wallace Avenue etc.
New Car Wash and 7 Eleven on Marquand road makes it easy to purchase last minutes things on the fly without venturing too far out
Ample number of medical centers - 3 along sayers road
Good amount of parks so that you can go for a quick jog
Alot of other shops along old Geelong road (Bunnings / Chemist Warehouse / Good guys / SuperCheap auto / Werribee Plaza etc if you need to shop for anything
Very close to the city and only takes around 30 minutes into the CDB when quite, 2 train stations that you can get on, either Williams landing or Tarneit station (depending whether you are on the start or tail end of Truganina.)
Good for young home buyers who want to get into the property market or rent while saving up for a deposit, my wife and I have been living here for almost 5 years and the suburb improves each year, more and more amenities being built as the population also becomes denser :)
More young professionals are slowly moving into the area, noticed this by talking to friends who are buying into the area as it is affordable/close proximity to the city and also it offers key amenities.
Cons;
No cafe\brunch\restaurants\shopping center yet at walking distance
Some new estates have NBN already, however the older areas are still running on ADSL 2, so hopefully we will get NBN soon too

"A suburb that is booming with Infrastructure upgrades (19-24km away from CBD depending on where you live)"
The biggest benefit of living here is that you are ahead of majority of the traffic (From Tarneit and Hoppers crossing ) in peak hour especially if you are located near Palmers road. It saves 20-25min each way in peak hour traffic compared to living in other Wyndham Suburbs. New houses coming up are very beautiful and loads of double stories are being built. This suburb has a few decent primary/secondary schools (Westbourne Grammer etc.) and more to come. Proximity to a train station i.e. Williams Landing if you are the start of the suburb or Tarneit station if you are towards the end of the suburb. Both Point cook shopping and Werribee plaza are not far away. Williams landing shopping centre is somewhere you can go to as well.
Forsyth Road extension to Dohertys road from Sayers road is underway, Palmers Road duplication is almost done, Leakes road duplication is underway and 2-3 small shopping centres with a Supermarket are coming up (Woolworths at Allura estate, 2 retail centres on opposite sides of Plamers and Leakes (construction underway)), 2-3 petrol station with fast food joints on Leakes road etc.

Seriously..may be Its the best place to live. But if you want to commute work heavy traffic everywhere.. Every saturday you cannot travel through leaks rd due to that rubbish laverton market..
I have lived in Footscray prior to moving to Truganina, and can say that during work peak hour traffic, most of the suburbs also suffer the same fate when heading into the city. I prefer PT; door to door to the office in the city it takes less than an hour - quicker than it is to drive into the city during peak hour.
But I must agree that Laverton market does generate a bit of traffic during the Saturdays but it is still bearable.
Sebastian, mate that Laverton Market is simply awesome. Not for their prices but to spend the weekend with kinds in there. It's one of the greatest features of that neighborhood.
"Forsyth Park is very prestigious in planned community in Truganina."
Potential to grow in property market.

"Lived here for 5 years"
Well, we have been living here for 5 years and have seen the suburb evolve. When we came in 2010, it took me 6 months to get ADSL connection from Telstra. Man it was a struggle! Got the connection after complaints and eventually was upgraded to ADSL 2+ and there is no looking back. The connection is blistering fast and I am happy with it. I am a tech freak and Internet is way to important for me.
The place: There are newly planted trees everywhere so if you are expecting this to be a greeny suburb, please look at S.E. suburbs. There's like 1000s of acres available and under construction with new homes. parking has never been a problem. I can only imagine what traffic will be like in the next few years unless council does something. Traffic is crazy on Sayers road, Moris Road and Leakes road during peak hours (from 6am - 8:30am and 5pm - 6:30pm). All other times, there is no traffic. I think this is common in all the suburbs, I may be wrong.
Shops/Cafes/Nightlife: We have Wyndham Village shopping center which is just okay with basic amenities. The food court is crap. There are more shops coming up as SAMS warehouse has closed down. New restaurants are coming up next to Wyndham Village shopping center. Nightlife, what nightlife?! There is no nightlife in Truganina!
Medical: This suburb is awesome for medical help. You can find clinics that are open till 12am! Some of the docs are crazy and some are really good. You find this everywhere. There are good number dental clinics and two Super Medical center have just opened doors in Truganina, both on Sayers road.
Parks: Good number of parks and open land. Some of them are well maintained. There are few Kids park but i really want council to create more or expand the current ones with better equipments as this suburb and the surrounding ones have thousands of young kids.
Culture/community: You will find tons of Indians (me being on of them) and other Asian, African and middle eastern community with good number Australians. The community has a variety of income earners from high to average earners. I can make this out by looking at my street and where my friends live and also with people in the shopping center.
Shopping: Werribee plaza is crap but is under construction. Hoping it to be a good one once completed. I prefer HighPoint.
Transport: Well connected by Bus and train with Williams Landing train station. The new tarneit V Line Train station will start mid June 2015.
School - I heard schools are an absolute crap here. There are lots of child care. And please be aware of the family day cares, some of them are disgusting!
Some of you have mentioned of the parking issues at the Islamic School. This has never affected me as most of the people park in the service lane in front of the school.
Overall, I am satisfied with the surburb as it caters my need though i there are a lot of things that needs to be looked at by the council. The best part of living in Truganina is you can get the best of Tarniet, Williams Landing, Hoppers crossing and Werribee. You dont have to pay tons to buy a house. They are affordable. If you are planning to invest and can wait, this is a good suburb for long run but not for a short high gain. With so much under construction and population boom in Truganina and Tarniet, these suburbs will be hot properties in the next 5-10 years.

"Perfect if you are looking for somewhere cheap, otherwise move on"
Truganina is a great cheap place to have a home, here you can afford that house that looks great and would cost far too much to build elsewhere, there however stops the benefits once you move it's all down hill. Luckily I don't have to deal with the traffic like I had to in the past which is ridiculous, trying to get to the freeway is a 30-45 min exercise and then to sit in Westgate in traffic further adds to the fun.
Schools are a joke, most are around an ATAR median score of 28 except for westbourne which even after paying extra fees the best you get is 32 which is hardly worth it. Primary schools aren't much better with schools consistently below NAPLAN averages dotted close by. It is appalling that the education of students in this area is this poor the outcomes of these kids are mostly trade and part time/casual roles which lead to poor health and employment outcomes further perpetuating the issues of this area. Those who know about this will know what I am talking about.
The community spirit is non existent, from the people who refuse to tie up their dogs when they go for a walk even thought they clearly have no control over their pets, to the rampaging hoons on motorbikes up and down the creek paths. There is an abundant community of peoples of Muslim and Indian affiliations and everyone else feels like the outsiders, the mosque on Sayers road blatantly ignores parking restrictions ensuring during large festivals, cars are parked up and down Sayers road for kilometres and causing ridiculous scenes.
Internet is third world slow, after months of pushing and pushing I managed to get ADSL 1 which is poor at best, those lovely buffering circles in YouTube are just fantastic. Repeated requests for cable and ADSL 2 are met with timelines which never eventuate.
I am still living here but desperately looking for a way out, selling up will leave you with the realisation that you will get a poor price to buy anywhere else so you feel trapped, avoid this place if you can.

"No community spirit , this suburb lacks a soul"
Very poorly planned area , traffic on Sayers Road is a nightmare , no shops unless your into Mc Donald's and Red Rooster , no community spirit , the area defiantly lacks personality , if you live here and need to buy milk during peak traffic times look forward to an hour round trip . Large immigrant area , nature strips are disgusting many residents wouldn't know what a lawn mower was . Hopefully things change , there is I nice park being built in the new Forsyth development and now have Telstra bigpond broadband after years of nothing ,will give it a couple more years if nothing changes will move to a nicer suburb.

Hi Mark - hope you're doing good!
Now that couple of years have passed - just curious to know how are you finding the place or have you moved on? Have things changed in Truganina?
"Dismal!! Moved out after one year."
We lived along parkland off Sayers Rd. on Bridgewater Way. It was a nightmare!! There were hoons riding their extremely loud dirt bikes up and down the paths all hours of the night. Police did nothing to assist. Also lots of hoons in cars. Our immediate neighbours were nice, but there was no real community spirit - most people kept to themselves. Internet was a total waste. Many areas were too far from the exchange. We were on the outer rim and our internet was so slow - I couldn't even Skype with my family.
The traffic was an ABSOLUTE nightmare. Forsyth road and Sayers road - FORGET ABOUT IT. I used to take my daughter to care in Point Cook at 8:30am - it would literally take me 30 minutes to go the 1.5kms down Forsyth road in the morning. Without traffic, it took about 7 minutes to get over to Point Cook. With the traffic, about 45 minutes!!! We couldn't find decent childcare in the Tarneit/Truganina area so had to go across the highway to Point Cook for our shopping and childcare and ultimately ended up moving to Point Cook.
Infrastructure, schools, daycares, roads, shopping centres - all overcrowded and poorly planned. I wouldn't recommend this suburb to anyone I cared about.
Great for
- None come to mind.
Not great for
- Very Noisy
- No sense of Community
- Low Socioeconomic area

"Best option for family guy working in CBD or West"
Truganina is one of the best options. 8 mins drive(you need car) to Laverton or Hoppers crossing station. Around 8 child care centre. 6 schools (all of them good ones).Really good houses ,with lot of space. Locality is safe and with Tarneit (vline station in 2016) . For money, saftey and space. Truganina,Tarneit. Good 3-4 bed room houses around 350-400$ pm

"Growing Fast"
There will be fibre optic cable in new developing Estates. It is in close proximity to hopper crossing and williams landing train station. There is a functioning shopping centre, 24 hrs medical centre and many childcare options. Proposed V-line station in Tarniet will be in close proximity. Truganina offers mixed cultural population which is the best part of it. However, i will recommend those interested in buying property to check their surrounding. Mostly, newly developing Estates are expected to offers better community.

I don't think it is any good for beach lovers maybe Altona and Williamstown where the swim-able beach is. Not swamp land and to go swimming in puddles.
"Unprepared for growth rate"
lived here 14 months & looking forward to moving this year. I live on the busiest road in town, Morris, so that has clouded my judgement, somewhat. Not unsual to see traffic bumper to bumper crawling along to Sayers Road in the mornings. Wet weather, any kind of minor fender bender, or roadworks are enough to cause this traffic delay, making the short drive in to thec ity a rather long & tedious slog, with no respite even when you are on Sayers. There seem to be a lot of idiot drivers around, sticking to the speed limit has had people overtake me in the bike lane on many occasions; drive through red lights, do burn-outs. Between 3 - 4 pm driving from the top of Morris down to Hoppers is a no-go - have sat through up to 3 rounds of the lights at this time! The roads in the rabbit warrens AKA streets around here are really narrow, making it impossible to pass another car on many occasions & one having to pull over to allow other one through. We are zoned for Baden Powell College. My girlfriend moved to Tarneit almost 5 years ago & there were 300 students, now there are 1200+. Parking woefully inadequate; no drop-off zone, downright dangerous to pick-up kids! It takes me 20 minutes to walk there, & I would rather do that than deal with the traffic chaos. School is primarily demountables. Standard of education seems good. Also, very multi-cultural, which I enjoy; (except not the request that there be no depiction of Christianity in the Easter Hat Parade as it may offend some) My girlfriends son catches a bus to Point Cook Senior (there is now a new High School here) and the bus is late almost everyday. I enjoy the bikepaths & bike lanes. I hate, loathe & despise the constant contruction din, years of that to come. If you ARE to move here, do not move to Morris Road. And be sure to come & check out the traffic situation at peak times. You may finds that living on one side of Morris Road rather than the other may be better for you, depending which way you need to go. Seriously, the traffic can be that bad! NO decent nightlife to speak of, & the Village Cinema at The Plaza (closest cinema) has limited releases. My friend, who lives in adjoining Tarneit, loves the area. Like I said: AVOID MORRIS!!

"Great Location, Great Value!"
We lived in Truganina for over 6 months now and still love it. We previously lived in the outer eastern suburbs and proprety prices were completely unaffordable. Working in the city it is easy for me to get in and out of the city via the freeway or train. With the new regional rail link to open up in the coming years this will only help further. Compared to the eastern suburbs I would have been paying twice the amount for a property within 22 kms of the city.
There are a lot of developments and building going on at the moment which can be annoying however the upside being in the next 5 years most will be finished.
Recommend Truganina highly for first home buyers or young families like ours.

"A real melbourne experience - mix of people!!"
Developing area, with lots of construction all around. The area has a varied mix of people from all backgrounds living. The area needs infrastructure improvement from the council starting with planting trees and unweeding the nature strip.

"A place not built to grow so quickly"
Truganina and surrounding areas have grown at such as rate that the roads can not cope with the traffic. Sayers Road is terrible for a lot of the day due to peak hours and having two schools so close together. The public transport is almost non existent in the area which makes travel without a vehicle difficult. The few parks not well appointed for young families in most cases. The positives are that the cost of living is good due to the socio economic groups that live in this area. The shopping centres are on the improve but there still is not enough to serve the amount of growth. I’m sure one day it will catch up by for me I think and area that is more established is preferable. If the spending dollar is the problem I would suggest some of the established areas in Hoppers or Werribee where public transport and other amenities are available.
Although one big thing I miss about this area is the proximity to the airport and the city - fantastic!
