Reviews of Wingham, NSW
"Safe, friendly town"
I've lived in Wingham for a few years. It's a safe, friendly little community. There is a historic feel with many period houses. Plenty of houses near town are on a quarter acre which is very rare these days. There are a few very good cafes, Garden Grub is our favourite. There is also a nice country pub and an RSL next door. Wingham Brush is a park with a rainforest bushwalk next to town along with a boat ramp to access the Manning River.

"Pleasant and Convenient Country Town"
I’ve been living here for 20 years and there are many friendly people in the area and fantastic health facilities and staff.
There are plenty of nice places to visit and to stay at. The town is peaceful and has a good, friendly atmosphere. There is just about every possible facility that you will need and it is also relatively close to a lot of areas such as Taree, Mondrook, Gloucester, Elands, Forster/Tuncurry, Nabiac, Old Bar etc.
There’s a museum, pubs, clubs, golf course, bowling club, schools, preschools, shops, a sporting complex, tennis court, train station, shooting range, winery, plenty of hotels/motels, cafes, takeaway, delivery, parks, rain forest, river, hospital, nursing homes, doctors.

"A small town atmosphere big town facilities."
I have lived here for 18 years. Quite country roads, farms everywhere, river in town with boat ramp, fishing as well.Activities around here like cycling ,walking even horse riding.
A show ground with all types of venues. The historical society, library and our own rain-forest,here in town.Schools,I think about three, child care centre one.Not very far from lakes and beaches because of the lack of traffic.Major hospital in taree, our own train station. Not as many buses to taree, other then your morning and afternoon trips. We have our airport at taree. Golf ,bowling and services clubs.A major supermarket, cafes, restaurants, pizzas parlour ect. Canoeing starts up river,at about charity Creek, thou some go fishing in theirs from the river here in town, next to the rain forest they call the "Brush". A lot of old style country shops. We even have our own bridge that the flood waters inundate now and again, with a viewing area high up out of reach. When that entertains you ,you've probably been living in Wingham for awhile. They have all types of hobby clubs, women and men types.Model aircraft is one, clay shooting another. And not to forget,an old historical Australian Pub that caters for families, probably built in the 1890,s.

"What a beautiful town to live in"
We moved to Wingham 4 years ago from Sydney and could not believe what a vast difference there is between country and city living. Wingham has been great for us we have a daughter with a disability and there are many services that are available at Taree. Wingham has been such a great little town to live in everyone is so friendly even the supermarket staff quite different from the city. You never see mobs of kids around the streets there is always something for them to do which allows them to use their imagination as we did in the old days. We live in the Bungay Estate which is just 3kms from the town centre and schools. Abundant bird life and fresh air just love the place it really is a great little town with excellent community spirit. Housing is so affordable in the town and people who could never afford to buy acreage in Sydney have their dreams come true in Wingham.

"Great Country Town"
Wingham is a wonderful town to bring up children with primary schools and a high school or to retire to. Wide streets and a relaxed country feel Wingham has all the basic qualities you need for a great lifestyle. Close proximity to larger shopping areas of Taree and Port Macquarie and only 2 hours to Newcastle and 4 hours to Sydney. It is also ideally situated with easy access to beaches and national parks. If you want to explore beyond town boundaries a car is essential as public transport is limited.
Lived in Wingham for my first 20 years and am about to move back 40 years later. One thing to consider if you have a young family is that in most cases the kids will have to move away to further their education or to find work. But as mentioned before major cities are as close as 2 hours away and Taree and Port Macquarie both have airports.
