"Won't recommend"
We've been living in Hamilton for over a year and will soon be moving on due to the lack of basic services (childcare, rentals, recreation etc) and the general run down nature of Hamilton, most facilities are in need of serious maintenance, several stores in the mainstreet is always vacant and the shopping mall in town only has 3 stores operating within it. The median age of this area is a lot older than other municipalities nearby leaving it with a conservative and slow to change mindset. We'll be moving to a more multicultural and better services area within this year.
Rhw place is perfectly fine! It's people who come in and expecting everything at their doorstep.
I lived in Hamilton.. it was so depressing. Monivae College is a great school if you want your kids to get an education. But its private and a cadet school with boarding and is expensive.
A lot of people are drug affected and the economy is lacking in a lot of departments. Just look at the Main Street.
McDonalds or Woolworths/ Coles is some of the ONLY major employment opportunity.

If find Sunflowers comment about Hamilton being "run down" strange. If you look in Google Streetview (updated 2024) you will see the town is well maintained , tidy, clean and has beautiful Victorian architecture.
is it really that bad to live there. I've been to Hamilton Victoria people were really nice and friendly to me when I was there!!!
