I'm a Sydney born, Newcastle youthed, 53 year old engineer with 2nd time around family. My day job has taken me all over Australia and I've visited/worked most parts of the world including having "homes" in South Africa, Canada, and Brazil. Having experienced a lot of locations I ended up in Brisbane as my first choice for a placed to call home for family. I think its a great place - though I'm a little unusual in Oz for having chosen an apartment over a house. I chose the CBD apartment to avoid the traffic I experienced when in living in the inner west. Its a beautiful climate 90% of the year. There's no shortage of things to do within easy driving distance (Southbank to Gold & Sunshine coasts). For mine the only drawback is the traffic (but not as bad as Sydney). Everything else is terrific. I like it so much I even made some ground level toilet & water stops time-lapse videos of my favorite inner city walks which are part of the large public "bikeway" network.
