We lived in Ascot for over 7 years. We loved Ascot but there are more unit complexes and it became quite noisy on weekend/night time/race days. We wanted to move to somewhere quiet, bigger land surrounded by bigger block of houses on no flood area. We walked around the area a few times before purchasing a house and it was nice with views. Our neighbors has large nice and well-maintained houses so I felt safe here. Our house hunting took many months. We saw houses in Stafford heights, Chermside, Aspley, Carseldine, etc. but I didn't want to drive particular roads during peak hours. Bracken Ridge wasn't our target but I found out it used be called "Rose Hill" and most houses are on a hill. I always wanted to live on a hill and now I do. Everything is good and I'm happy here :) Whoever is looking for a house, I think it's not about particular suburb. There are good and bad street/house/occupant in any suburbs. Everyone has different priority on their list, so if the house ticks many boxes, go for it :)
