"Wonderful community with some very snobby folks who think they’re progressive and Uber-woke but are just snobs who can’t afford pricier suburbs"
It’s a lovely community with few exceptions. I live in the Flour Mill development and what a joy it’s been. Our strata fees fund and maintain a picturesque playground/park called Harvest Park that way too many of the local
snobs/NIMBYs seem to particularly enjoy frequenting. I make a point of pointing this out when I come across those who, almost without exception, seem to live in small, damp, mouldy terraces or old worker’s cottages which are in need of demolishing or proper TLC. The Flour Mill development has made a 120sqm, 3-bed, 2-bath unit with a secure car park in a location that’s desirable affordable to buy for average families. In our building, there are a few of us whose children attend elite private schools (PLC, SCEGGS, Newington, Sydney Grammar) so perhaps the local fake-woke snobs should wake up to themselves. 😂. I mean, we see you using our taxpayers’ monies dragging yourselves off to one very over-subscribed local public school (SH Public). You ain’t got nothing to be haughty about. 🤦🏻♀️.
The real great pity is that some locals are real NIMBYs and snobs. They’re determined to ruin the sense of achievement and community that we all have worked hard for.
The wonderful benefits of living in here — well-connected close to various public transport modes (light rail, trains, buses). Not too far from the Sydney CBD and all the major museums, galleries, theatres. Lots of nearby parks and green spaces. The Flour Mill markets and The Little Big House (thank you to the Flour Mill development, and you’re welcome, local NIMBYs). Proximity to some of the best schools (PLC Croydon, Meriden, MLC, Newington). Lots of decent cafes and places to gather.
