We moved to Paddington when we were kids straight from New Zealand, and we lived in the area for close to three years before moving to Tarragindi. For the three years it was fantastic as a kid, leafy, safe and everyone was friendly. We literally walked everywhere as it was superclose to walk to the city etc. We still have family and friends that live in the area and we still attend the Presbyterian Ithaca Church to this day. When i reached 18, sure enough I was back in the area more frequently enjoying the cafes, restaurants and the nightlife. From being a child and going back to enjoy the area as an adult was a pleasure, seeing the change and hype of the area increase. We lived at the top of Martha Street, a good little bit of hill to walk up too everyday after school. Only thing i could complain about going back as an adult is the parking! If i can't park in my families parking space, I know its a game of 'spot the park' for a while! Even going to church can be a pain in the butt looking for a spot!

I find this street ideal! We know almost every neighbour around us and the neighbours we know are wonderfully friendly people. No one's in each others face, we just acknowledge each others existence and stop by for a friendly hello every now and then. The walk around the estate early mornings is lovely and its easy to get to know the local walkers! Walking out of the estate is nice too, its always quiet and a really good walk. Its clean and tidy and family friendly. There's only one way into this estate by car and one way out! I'm lucky to have the neighbours I have as we look out for each other. No theft experienced for anyone as yet in the last two years before us, and our neighbours haven't experienced anything for the last five years. Highly recommended area, but be sure to get to know your neighbours, it does help in making you feel a lot more relaxed at home.

We lived in Erindale Close just off Ham Road. It was a fantastic place to live at. Our neighbours were great, and it was super quiet. We lived here for almost three years and had our son while living there. We were renting at the time and unfortunately, due to the owners needing to move back in, we'd had to resort to moving hastily elsewhere. We have great memories of the area and really wanted to raise our son here too. Great schools to chose from and easy access to many places. You really didn't even need to drive because buses were great too! Locals were lovely and the local shops were just a walk away. I loved it, and I'm sure you'll love it, especially if you have a family! Great parks and i would take my son for walks early morning without any fear. The streets were truly safe. I use to walk to the shops alone in the evening if we needed milk and you only ever pass by friendly locals. Always felt safe!

I grew up here and my mother still lives there and since having moved through a few different suburbs of brisbane, I can only say that Tarragindi is a WONDERFUL suburb. We grew up knowing all our neighbours and there were plenty of kids to play with. It really had the safe factor to it and we would venture off to creek or the local park. It was truly a blessed childhood. As i got older, I took advantage of the forest and use to walk there almost daily because it was there and easy to access. We went to an awesome local primary school and once I hit high school, there were too many options because we had access to so many. Mind you we didn't have a car till i was in grade 11(1998) so just walked/bused it.
Once they built the busway, it made going everywhere that much quicker and easier. I would recommend this suburb for everyone families to singles. It caters to all really. The busway gave me the freedom to go to the city freely and not worry about driving. REally super cost effective! Streets were always safe, i walked many countless times home from that busway(a good 10min walk) on my own(and I"m a chick). It did help too that I knew so many locals because that's just how it is. Its safe and exercising is the norm! I thought moving out of home was exciting at first, but in my late 20's, I really want to move back to the area again. If only my little family and I could afford a home there now!!!!You won't regret it if you move here! The closer to the forest you are, the better it is too! Its super leafy and the locals are nothing short of friendly. I forgot to mention, Uni is ridiculously easy to access. You can walk their through the forest, or just bus it. I mean it doesn't get better then that. Plus I found that not many ppl even knew Tarragindi, as I grew up. Was kind of bummed they eventually put it up on the highway because it was nice when no one knew the area.

We've been here going on two years now. We're a young family of three who moved over from Sunnybank. Initially i came kicking and screaming because I'd never heard anything good about the area and it always seemed so far from civilization. Yes, small minded as this was, i can admit that I had that inner city snob like attitude since i grew up in the inner city suburbs. I followed my partner who assured me that if i ended up that unhappy about it, that we'd move into Milton where we'd originally had planned for.
Well, as much as I bag the area it has been surprisingly good. We live in the Cunningham Rise estate and we are lucky enough to have the loveliest of neighbours. In two years we have only heard two disturbances, both of which were two singled out drunk guys leaving the estate from a party, but nothing overly dramatic. Our area is lovely and quiet and with the warmer weather hitting, strolling over to Goodna St Ives shopping centre or even Redbank(since the opening of Smiths Road access to the plaza is super easy) is quite pleasant.
We were lucky not to be affected by the floods and though there was great loss, some good has come from it. There was plenty of help to get things up and running. All the places open now are brand new and the area was in need of an uplift. Like any other suburb there are those few that give the suburb a bad name, I've witnessed a fair few ferals but in balance to that, I've also met some lovely friendly locals that make me appreciate the area more. My partner says it reminds him of Townsville!
In regards to transport, the trains are now fantastic since the changes from June, but not much can be said about buses, as they're quite unpredictable at times. Express from Goodna to City/Milton 20mins or so. Stop at all stations takes about an hour. But getting by with your car is just as easy! Easy access to literally everywhere.10mins to Mount Ommaney, 10mins to Springfield, 2mins to Redbank Plaza. 15mins to Jindalee. Thank god for the Ipswich Motorway upgrade! I have warmed to the area and we've decided to put our son into a local school that we've heard some good things about plus we do want to get to know more local families. Great family sized homes on a budget. We could never afford this same size home for the price we pay in rent. We've never had security issues because we have some great neighbours and everyone makes a point of keeping an eye out. Don't be afraid to get to know your neighbours, you won't know what they're like unless you make the effort too.
Hopefully others can share similar insight. I mean if I'd had a bad encounter with someone, I'd probably write differently, but thankfully i haven't.
