A town that is full of violent nasty drinkers and drug addicts also young men and women why threaten elderly people so much they are to scared to leave their own homeowners or contact the authorities. The council let people they like do what they want and council dont follow their own policy or nsw land. Police are never about and could care less about the threats to the elderly. Teenagers roaming streets at night and cars speeding and reving engines.

I often wonder if the town is still full of drunks, druggies and bludgers with a dog on a string. The place appeared to be turning into a losers paradise when we lived there 26years ago.

"WHY did I decide to move to Werris Creek?"

It was online reviews like many of those on this website which made me decide to move here. Maybe it was a nice town years ago, but it isn't now. A pair of bogans has moved in next door to me and created a mini farmyard with many smelly noisy roosters and chickens and dogs which bark through the night, wrecking the sleep of my neighbours. Liverpool Plains Shire Council has been worse than useless at dealing with the problems, and now they ignore all complaints. There is only one super laid-back police officer assigned to this town and he is rarely there.

Apart from that, there are For Sale signs popping up everywhere. It is a dying town with a population of many hoons and bogans. Those of us who like a friendly quiet environment are getting out. I am buying a house in the Riverina and I am getting out too. I cannot take this Wild West town with the atrocious climate any more either.

If you are thinking of moving here, please take my advice and reconsider. I regret ever hearing of Werris Creek.

"A town you should never move to."

Where should I start? The town is either stinking hot or freezing cold. There is never just a lovely day. Children get bored easily as there is not one decent park or playground in town. The butcher sells meat that is not worthy of eating if you don't believe me just go there. The Friendly Grocer should have been named the unfriendly grocer as they are a bunch of the rudest people I've ever met. It is a 45 minute drive to the closest shopping town which is a huge inconvenience. There is not even a doctor in town for help with medical issues and the hospital isn't even a hospital they can't provide you with any help at all. The closest hospital for an emergency with a child is a little under an hour away. This town is definitely not a promising place to live. The only thing I would praise about it is how lovely the teachers and school were and what an excellent job they do.

Great for

  • Great school, with Active After School activities
  • Swimming pool

Not great for

  • Drought stricken country
  • Very bad insect problems year round
  • Shops are awful
  • 35 minutes drive from Tamworth
  • It's part of Liverpool plains shire council . The worlds worst council

Werris creek is the perfect town to raise a family in safety and comfort ,it has all the things you need ,friendly shops a grocery shop where people will help you find what your looking for , a service station with excellent service from the mechanics who won't rip you off and someone will actually come out and put the fuel in your car , when was the last time that happened to you ,not to mention our excellent clubs and pubs and first class meals . A fiirst class pool and parks and quiet streets with one of the best public schools in he state . "A nice quite area with only local vehicles passing.Aprox 500 mtres from Highway..noise is minimum."

Mount Falcon Estate East Tamworth has all no through streets, including Cleary Drive. The only vehicles using the streets are mainly driven by the locals.
Most front lawns and gardens are well kept by the owners...a beautiful green and colourful area.
The neighbourhood is extremely peaceful and the everyone is friendly.
From many of the homes in the Estate you can enjoy a terrific view over the Peel River and the lush lucerne growing farms. At night the beautiful lights of Tamworth!

"Great, Tidy Town - Close to Tamworth"

I visit Werris Creek quite regularly and enjoy it every time. The town is so laid back and everyone is very friendly! Unlike most small towns the locals at the pubs and clubs are welcoming and friendly rather than looking at you like your an outsider. House prices are very affordable and they have lots of great facilties for a small town i.e pool, school, hospital, doctors surgery, supermarket, bowling/tennis club, 2 pubs, Golf Course, cafes and lots more. It is also only a short drive of about 40 mins to Tamworth. I would recommend Werris Creek to buy or rent for anyone looking for a nice quite place to retire or bring up your children.
