Perhaps there are a lot of baby boomers who are retiring and selling up for their super or touring around the country in their winnebago!

Thankyou for your comment and I think you are correct! We have just returned from holidays up there and did a bit of research of the area while there as we plan a retirement move to Forster in the near future.

There are lot of properties generally for sale in Forster. Think carefully before buying because if you ever want to sell, especially in a hurry, it can be a nightmare. I know this from personal experience.

Thanks Kerasita for sharing your experience. We had noticed that the market for selling in that area can be very slow. As much as we love Forster as a holiday destination we have decided to look further north for our retirement sea change.

We live nearby (Nabiac) and generally try to avoid going to Forster in summer when there are too many tourists and idiots on the roads. Maybe they are fed up with that?

A lot of people are selling up while there is interest and houses going for $1-2m and cashing in on Newcastle and Sydney money. Also, the older demographic I've spoken to are moving to other nearby beach areas (Old Bar/Harrington) and Taree West on the River as the holidaymakers over Summer make it a nightmare not getting a park at the shops, taking 30 mins to cross the bridge or get to the main st without traffic or find a seat in a cafe. Not relaxing at all. Also, the main hospital and only emergency department is in Taree which is 40 mins from Forster and being closer to medical services is a plus and not having to wait for an ambulance stuck in traffic on the bridge which has happened before.
