This is for those that hate it, where is better and why?

Having lived and worked there and still owning property there, would like to know where those that hate the place think is better. I have been up and down the entire Coast of Aus, have not found anything I like better. Sure it is hot and humid in the wet season, it is in the tropics. But my unit did not have A/C and there were only one or two nights a year where a fan was not enough. There is a beautiful dry season with SE breezes...but if you do not like being on the water, you are probably going to be disappointed. So, where there a better spot on the coast to live that has a small town feel?
