How long is the subway commute from Bayridge to Lower Manhattan?

On a good day -- around 45 min to Herald Square. On an average day -- around 60 min. On a bad day -- 75 min. On a terrible day -- 90 min. Morning commute times are more often best. Mega-commute times more likely in the evenings. (Non-rush hour commute times are the biggest crap shoot.) Waiting for the R local is usually the most time consuming and frustrating part of the commute in either direction. In the morning, most people take it to 59th street, where they transfer to the N express -- or stay on it all the way to 36th street where they have the additional D express option. As the neighborhood gentrifies, the demand for more frequent and reliable R train service will increase and the MTA will finally be responsive to the needs of Bay Ridge residents. Hopefully.
The Commute from Bay Ridge to Manhattan takes a lot less time than most people assume. For a more specific estimate I suggest visiting www.Hopstop.com where you can enter a starting and end point and receive an estimate from your home to office.
30-40 Minutes to Union Square. 5 Minute ride on R to 59th, transfer to N express which makes only a two more stops in Brooklyn before crossing the Manhattan Bridge (36th, Atlantic Pacific), and takes about 25 minutes to reach 14th St. If N trains are running local (which they do during late nights, and during construction), you're in for a 50min ride.
