Reviews of Holden Ave, North Geelong
"an excellent place to live for families, quiet for singles"
you do need to drive to the centre of geelong for retail therapy, but there is a local newsagency/postoffice outlet and takeaways food shops and mini supermarket along Melbourne Road. The area has its own railway and some buses that go to the city but which do not connect to West Geelong, another shopping precinct. Holden Avenue has a lovely park - St Helen's with beach area, toilets can be locked at times. This park is well-maintained. It would be the perfect street except for a new resident who bought a property/s with A,B,C attached to their street number, although this has been common practise for how long??? - they find this offensive and have gone to the council to make EVERYONE ELSE in the street who has lived there for years change their street numbers - this will be settled in their favour according to the council after Xmas. Residents don't know whether they can fight this unhappy situation as some are adamant they refuse to let go of their street number and one has proudly painted theirs on the brick fence (you go girl!). Aside from this, property values have increased so of course some rates have gone up 50-100%, but you get what you pay for and that's why sydneysiders have started moving to Geelong, with our own shuttle bus from Avalon airport - domestic flights, soon to go international!!!
