Reviews of Alkimos, WA
"Excellent location and amenities for beach loving families"
We have lived in Alkimos since 2017. We have rented a property in the area and then have since bought our family home and an investment property in the suburb. The proximity to the beach is fantastic and the transportation links are amazing. The Mitchell freeway has recently been extended to service the area and the train station is very close by with a new one being build in the suburb. The schools are brilliant and plenty of shops, cafes, parks and open green spaces to enjoy. 5* location

"Lots of options"
Alkimos has a huge choice of homes ranging from beach front appartments in Shorehaven to lifestyle blocks in Trinity, there is a multitude of public and private schooling and plenty of places to eat out. It is overall a nice modern place to build a connected yet peaceful life.

"Peets Paradise...care when investing."
Lived here for 5 years.....poor investment choice.
Peet promised visions of grandeur but failed miserably in most areas. Woolworths were planned to anchor the shopping centre at the foreshore surrounded by boutique shops....pulled out and still no shops.
Primary school planned near medical centre ......still waiting after 7 years....highly unlikely as Alkimos Vista will probably get a primary school first and this is only in the early stages of development.
Poor upkeep and maintenance.....just check out the South facing wall along Shorehaven Blvd which is currently the main street linking Marmion Ave to the beach...it's cracked, paint and render flaking and falling off....despite three years of so called tials and expertise involvement to find a solution the wall is worsening and an eyesore. Still no solution and this could be delayed for many more years before any rectification is carried out....poor developer response to All valid complaints.
I could go on and on but I won't...as I said this was a very poor investment choice for me and one that I regret daily.
Do your research and compare neighbouring suburbs closely.. Areas like Eden Beach and Jindee may be a lot better investment choice.
I wish I read reviews warning me against buying in Shorehaven at the time I was buying. My address would certainly be elsewhere....
I know many people that have sold out and left Shorehaven with big losses and the reasons were not only poor market conditions!
You have been warned

"Sooooo quiet!"
I have visited Alkimos a few times over the last month for work. It is miles and miles away, but it looks great with all the new houses and you can sense the beach is just 'over there'. The new shops are being built so soon there will be Big W and others specialty stores in the area. In the meantime there is the new Yanchep Central just up the road, which I was quite surprised to see. On one occasion I was up there in the evening and the silence was just overwhelming! Something those of us living closer to the city miss is the absence of sound and the great starry sky! If you work in the area or don't mind traveling then Alkimos might be the place for you - sadly I had to go home again!

"A new surburb, lots of potential and growth. Very exciting."
We have built in Shorehaven. Love it so far. It's about 5mins from Shopping and services in Butler and about 10mins to Clarkson. The developer is really getting alot done and the suburb is looking great so far. We are very excited to see Shorehaven grow. The future plans look wonderful. It's classed as a private suburb so there is no homeswest housing which we were pleased to hear about.
Great for
- Brand new suburb
- Only 5mins from local shopping centre.
- Beachside suburb
Not great for
- No school yet...but plans to come in the next 12mths

Is there a problem with mosquitoes and is Mindarie Senior College ok? Is there a school bus to the college? What places are there to visit nearby except Yanchep National Park?
Ive been in alkimos vista for about 8 months and I absolutely love it , Im originally from Melbourne, so everything is different for me , less traffic, shops are close and walking distance from some of the best beaches around Perth:) Im so happy I moved to alkimos
I have lived in Alkimos (Shorehaven) for six years and this area has been extremely slow to develop compared to neighbouring suburbs. The developer is Peet Limited and quite frankly they have not met many of the promises they espoused when we first considered this area. Since moving into the area I have attended many meetings with the developers project Manager and other Senior Execs to discuss issues of concern...My initial thought on their approach to our areas many concerns ...is their arrogant response to many of the concerns raised....our concerns in brief..were the poor substandard feature wall that is on Shorehaven Blvd. This wall is not fit for purpose and despite the fact that they have had a specialist team looking to remedy the wall.....after 6 years the faults in the wall have NOT been rectified and the wall in parts looks like a graffiti canvas.
We had issues with landscaping in the area...many plants that were planted had no water source, they died and were removed and not replaced...more black mulch was added to make people in the area think they were improving the look of the area. Generally they construct things down to a price not up to a Premium Standard they espoused in the early stages of development. A Woolworths store and many variety stores were in the original sales promo material to be built at the foreshore....that was 8 years ago....still no development and Woolworths saw the light and pulled out....wish I had done the same thing...I would have dark hair rather than grey and my wrinkles wouldn't be as deep as they are with all the anxiety we've had to deal with over the years.
Many long term residents would sell up if they could get their original investment back because they too have a very poor opinion of Peet Ltd...some even considered a class action because of undelivered promises. Many surrounding developments have advanced considerably compared to Shorehaven despite the tough economic conditions and in some cases the standard of development is more in line with a PREMIUM definition than Shorehaven at cheaper cost.
We are out of here once I get my money back and would NEVER invest in another Peet Development.
Think very seriously before investing here....
I would never invest in a new suburb like this.... No Scarcity and not too much infrastructure. This all adds to low capital gains... The only type of people who would live up here are Owner Occupiers who are making emotional purchases, not business decisions.
BTW. I live here, but would never invest here. I invest where scaresity is (further towards the city).
