"Brighton east is the best"

I have lived in Brighton east all my life and I have to say it's perfect. It's a great place for families live. It has some of the best schools in the state. It's close to Hampton, church and bay street which have some of the most delicious eateries and high end stores. It's got many parks too many to count but the most note able one is Dendy park it's huge great for walking and every year the council hosts "carols in the park" where local performers perform and the night is ended with fireworks. The neighbors all know each other and will always go out of their way to help make your life easier. It's crazy close to Brighton and Hampton beach. It's a pretty affluent place that's a little bit cheaper than Brighton. The people who live here are mostly families with kids, elderly people who have bought there home back when the suburb was established back in the 50s , the wealthy and minor celebrities. It's a typical suburban neighborhood nothing ever out of the ordinary.

"Family friendly and terrific Dendy Park"

Brighton East starts on the eastern side of Hampton Street, Brighton and continues across Nepean Highway.
Each pocket of Brighton East - beach side of Nepean Highway and east side of Nepean Highway has it's own merit and there are so many beautiful Parks to enjoy. Beach side you have Dendy park which is huge - people love taking their dogs for walks there - you will see many runners and there are tennis courts here as well. There is the Brighton Golf Course which is a nice course and there are a few streets which back on to the Golf Course and Dendy park offering homeowners fabulous green leafy views. Take a look at Glencairn Avenue and Comer Street, and Sunlight Crescent to name a few. Over Nepean Highway you can enjoy Landcox Park which is so pretty and Gardenvale Primary is very popular amongst the local community. It's still close to all of Brighton's amenities and home prices are little more affordable to Brighton. It's a lovely suburb for families.

"Beautiful bayside Brighton East"

Just off the blue-chip border of Brighton. The beachside of Brighton East is an exclusive pocket bordering Hampton St within popular school zones perfect for family living. The famous Brighton bathing boxes are bayside icons and the beach itself is a great draw card. Plenty of leafy streets and parks such as Dendy Park which is one of Victoria's 10 largest parks and Brighton Public Golf Course. A desirable and unique suburb.

"A nice place to bring up a family."

I've lived here for over 8 years. We know most of the people in the street, they are pretty friendly bunch. Its a great area for bringing up a family and I feel safe walking the dog at night. There is zip in the way of nightlife, however its close to Brighton which has a few pubs and bars.

"Bayside smart design"

Brighton East is quiet because it is not a thoroughfare like most other suburbs. Cutting edge design and bucolic streetscapes blend seemlessly without the stratospheric prices of 3186.Close proximity to the cbd, St Kilda, etc is fantastic and it is well served by public transport. I have lived bayside for 30 odd years and think 3187 is great!

"Hampton St"

As a young single mum I find Brighton East a fairly safe and very pretty place that is good to bring my son up in, but it is soooo boooooring. People keep to themselves and neighbours don't know each other. Going out or shopping in Brighton is very expensive, although it's much cheaper, and more interesting in my opinion, on the other side of the highway (East Brighton/ Bentleigh). It's all monoculture around Brighton/ E Brighton - white, middle class families and retirees mostly - I have barely seen any cultures other than anglo saxon since I moved here 8 years ago. I live on Hampton St and it can be quite noisy, esp. on weekends; lots of young kids walk around drinking or hoon around in their cars at night. Very quiet in the back streets though. The other end of Hampton St - over in Hampton - can be difficult traffic-wise on weekends and Thurs/ Fri nights.

E Brighton isn't quite as safe it you would think, given how quiet, upper-middle class and expensive it is - there was a shootout in my street in 2005, a major drug bust (also in my street) in 2008, a gangland murder in E Brighton in 2004 (-ish), and other little things, like a couple of kids bashing my brother's car in with baseball bats about 3 yrs ago (2006).

If you are a family with money and young kids or even teenagers and you like to live somewhere quiet, green and peaceful, this area will suit you. The boxes at Brighton Beach are pretty, but there are better (cleaner) beaches in Sandringham and Black Rock (best beach is half moon - small but idyllic). Church St is not my cup of tea for shopping - prestigious boutiques etc - but lots of people love its village feel. Brighton, and to a lesser extent E Brighton, has some amazing, beautiful houses and the council has maps of walks you can do touring the best houses.

If you are into sport it's fabulous being near the beach and the cycling/ jogging tracks that run along Beach Rd. There are some great parks in the area too - my favourites for kids are Thomas St in Hampton (fabulous community-built wooden climbing maze) and Landcox St (ducks, lake and picnic area) in E Brighton/ Gardenvale. Elsternwick Park is pretty good too for lots and lots of space to run around in.

E Brighton is a good place to retire I am sure. It is not good if you like to be close to the action or to see unexpected things happening/ unusual people doing strange or interesting things. It's the same thing every day, no surprises.

Brighton East families are very social, friendly and Dendy Park Carols is a great event for locals. Bayside continues to be popular among Anglo professionals and wealthy retirees as it always has been. The main shopping/activity centres tend to have the most nightlife. There is plenty to do during the day too with more shops coming to Bay St, Hampton St and Church St soon (very popular shopping areas). Traffic is usually the quietest on weekends without weekday commuters. The suburb is very safe and crime is very low like the rest of bayside.

"Not far from the city and close to the beach"

Train and trams close by as well as the buses makes this a good location. It is easy to get to the city and to the beach and while it is a reasonable distance from the city it still isn’t too far to cycle.
There is a good collection of houses from townhouses through to larger family homes. Some of the homes are wonderful character homes that give the area a nice historic feel.
There are some great parks nearby that give the area the green we all want and it provides plenty of room for kids to run.
With the beach not too far away it’s easy to go and cool down on those hot days without having to travel too far.
