"Safe and Family Friendly"

My partner and myself have only lived in this area for 12 months. Although we don’t have and children of our own as of yet I can see for myself how family friendly this neighbourhood is and wouldn’t have any issues raising my own children here one day.
Also very pet friendly too, we have 2 dogs of our own and always see at least one person a day when we go out for walkies. You get the occasional bark off’s in the late afternoons which has never been an issue with us, I think every neighbourhood has those people that just don’t want a bar of it however, part of the package deal am I right?

We’re also only about 20 minutes (give or take) to the city and if your one for public transport then that is also great, all the bus stops are within reasonable walking distance as far as I’m aware.
We have wonderful neighbours both sides of us, always up for a chat and very friendly.
We find Redwood Park to be a very safe and peaceful neighbourhood, perfect place to raise children, and both pet and family friendly.

"Family friendly and affordable"

I have lived in this area for more than 35 years in 2 separate locations. It’s 20 mins to the city and has great public transport. Close to good schools, hospital, major shopping centre. We have wonderful long-standing neighbours. We safely park one car in the street. We love the hills whilst being close to all amenities. It is an affordable place to raise a family. We find it quiet and peaceful.

"Best thing was leaving"

'White' (Caucasian) suburb consisting, so it appeared, of mostly tradies.
Dogs galore with lots of barking and dog owners walking dogs off lead blatantly disregarding council signage. My neighbour's dog continually wandered in my yard and urinated.
There was a rumour that someone was going around baiting dogs in the area.
Warm weather brings on all the BBQs and parties, this results in broken beer bottles and fast food wrappers in the street, loud noise, reckless driving and poor behaviour.
There's a creek that runs adjacent with what should be scenic walking tracks but, unfortunately, the area is rarely mowed so it's hard to see if there are snakes due to long dead grass (weeds).
Very unfriendly residents, on different occasions I smiled about to say hello in passing but all I got was filthy looks in return. When I did say hello I didn't receive a response.
What everyone else said before me: Where's the footpaths?????????
It's never quiet. Even living away from the main road I could hear the traffic, and there's an ambulance and fire station nearby so there are always sirens. People don't seem to sleep, doesn't matter what time of the day or night it was, e.g. 4 am, there was always traffic and people around.
I couldn't wait to get out of there, one year was too long.

"Not impressed"

As with all suburbs it depends who you live next to. Unfortunately, I am surrounded by irresponsible pet owners. On one side the dogs bark almost continually, high pitched yapping. On the other side the pet owner dumps their pet's feaces at the back of their yard alongside my fence so all I smell all day is urine and crap, to the point where I csn't open back doors and windows. The stench is particularly nice in summer. Behind me the dog owner has bred his dog to be agressive and somehow his dog has an elevated perch so it csn look over the high fence into my yard and growl and bark viciously when I am out there.

I don't find it to be a safe area. I was accosted by someone in the park nearby who followed me and requested things that made me feel very anxious. Now I feel worried going for walks.

The lack of footpaths is ridiculous leaving me to walk on paths so as not to feel like I am trespassing on someone's property, as what should be footpaths is turned into extended front yards. I don't know how people walk around with prams and or young children: very dangerous.

On that, there are a lot of hoon drivers speeding around without concern and I am always having to rush across the road for fear a car will come round the corner and wipe me out. To me it seems like a 'yobbo' area.

I dislike the area very much and will be moving out.

Great for

  • Pet problems
  • Neighbour problems

Not great for

  • Could do with a few more cement footpaths
  • Must look out for traffic from side streets
