Reviews of South Melbourne, VIC
"Beach, parks and city all on your doorstep"
Stunning, renovated Victorian terraces in tree lined streets. Close to the beach, the city and many parks. Has access to Albert Park's highlights including St Vincent's place, MSAC and Bridport street, but not quite as expensive.
Best area is Howe St/Ferrars place block, which is quiet, leafy and fantastic Victorian streetscape.
Problem is the cost of housing, and parking can be a difficult in some areas.

"South Melbourne Market - Food lover's paradise"
South Melbourne is a vibrant inner-city suburb located just south of Melbourne's central business district in Victoria, Australia. It is known for its rich history, diverse community, and a variety of amenities and attractions. One of the standout features of South Melbourne is the South Melbourne Market.
South Melbourne has a mix of architectural styles, which range from Victorian Era terrace to modern complexes.
With a blend of old and new, it makes it very appealing to live for a wide range of residents.
Right on the doorstep in of course The South Melbourne market located on Cecil Street, it is such a landmark and its history dates back to 1867, making it one of Melbourne’s Oldest Markets.
The market is known for its high quality and locally sourced fresh produce. Produce ranging from fruits/vegetables, meat & seafood to baked goods & gourmet delights.
Anyone visiting is in Food lovers paradise - there is something for everyone.
"Great location - close to the beach and city"
I live in South Melbs for 2 years and loved it. We were just off Clarendon st. It's a great area with lots going on pubs, places to eat etc.. but is also close to the beach & albert park which is great on a hot day. The only downside is that there can be a few 'characters' around the 7Eleven and Coles supermarket, but have never had any trouble

"Trendy and full of action!"
South Melbourne is of my favourite suburbs. It's on the city doorstep however has a very individual feel. The iconic South Melbourne Market is a huge attraction and thousands of visitors flock to weekly. Clarendon Street is its main shopping strip with lots of cafe's and restaurants. The best part of South Melbourne are the hidden lane way's - look closely and you will find funky wine bars on every corner :)
