Reviews of Emmaline Street, Northcote
"Great place to retire."
Emmaline Street is the friendliest streets we have ever lived in. We have resided in Footscray, Carlton, Tasmania, Moonee Ponds, Hawthorn, Clifton Hill and now Emmaline St. Northcote. We have friendly neighbours who are always ready to lend a helping hand - everyone seems to watch out for each other - we are close to train and tram and only a few klms from CBD. The golf course is close, so husbands are not underfoot too often.
The down side of Northcote is that it is not a pretty suburb but as more people are doing up their older style cottages, this should improve within the next 10 years. We are very happy here and have no intention of leaving.

I have lived in Emmaline St for 10 years. I'm a single professional woman and have always felt safe in this street. Always a friendly neighbourhood and people who care and look after each other. Close to the best Foodworks in Melbourne, new cafés, a stroll to Merri Creek. Public transport close by. Yes it is getting busier and traffic not good at peak hour but the norm for Melbourne. Great place to live.
I second That
Add a comment...Now a few years later, I find Northcote quite "Feral". Lots od drug addicts (syringes or bodies in the lanes) and car broken in to or damaged over night. I no longer can recommend Northcote. I have good neighbours and I am close to public transport, but the ferals have spoilt this suburb and I no longer feel safe.
