Is Little Italy in New York City a safe neighborhood?

It's not the safest neighborhood in Manhattan, per se, but most of it -- particularly the northern and western parts of it -- are pretty safe. There's a lot of street traffic in this neighborhood, too, so I haven't really ever felt unsafe walking even late at night.
